I know we’re slightly distracted rn but it’s worrying that Starmer has chosen to ignore all the reports of bullying by Antonia Romeo (mostly of other women, reportedly) & confirmed her as the head of the civil service.

Reminder that the board of trustees for the British Museum includes Tracey Emin, Danny Finkelstein, Tom Holland (no, not that one) Claudia Winkleman and Mary Beard and it is really easy to boycott and/or disrupt their work publicly.

That Goodwin would attract like-minded racists, bigots and neo-Nazi adjacent lowlifes was predictable.

That the BBC, Times, etc would entirely ignore this...was also predictable.

And they’ve reached this conclusion in the midst of an all-channels, presumably very expensive marketing push. I don’t know, maybe it would’ve been smart to de-emphasise the whole “our awesome new technology will make everyone unemployed and desperately poor” angle?

Awfully hard to square the claims that ICE is focused on removing violent criminals that are so dangerous we can't let them be around with the fact that ICE tricks their targets by pretending to need help and waiting for neighborly types to respond by offering to help a stranger for free.
Two female ICE agents popped the hood of their car and knocked on the door of a mechanic born in Mexico. He went out to help.

ICE drawdown? Indications point to steady enforcement activity outside the Twin Cities
Some people who observe ICE activity are skeptical about a large scale drawdown of agents in the state. There are indications that activity has decreased in the Twin Cities, but has continued outside ...

Universities didn't create Covid, didn't choose lockdowns, and didn't set public health policy. By this logic every airline owes you damages for a hurricane.
This is a masterclass in punishing institutions for surviving a crisis. This will accelerate the collapse of UK higher education

Papers who genuinely care about antisemitism as a bad thing, rather than as a handy weapon with which to berate the left, would not behave like the Times. This isn’t some random commenter on a FB page, this is *Reform’s campaign manager in the most consequential by-election in years*, & it’s gross.
I keep checking The Times homepage, knowing how red hot it was on AS under Corbyn, and… amid plenty of Reform coverage, this story's conspicuously absent.

The decline of right wing cultural production is just due to the fact that they don’t like culture, they like the signifiers of culture, ie “classic sculpture means white people are better.” They don’t like art at all except for this purpose. They don’t even like the nerd stuff they whine about
