i think this gets at something important which is that normal people are rightly pissed off that they’re having normal time stolen from them by this ravaging horde of jumped up mall cops. everybody has to work in the morning! why is it THEIR job to hold their community together in such a basic way!
🔥 From @statuscoupnews.bsky.social : “This is nuts. What the fuck is going on? I’ve never protested in my life… they tell you it’s immigrants — it’s fucking anybody. They’re just trying to scare people. I’m not paid to be here. I have to work in the morning. This is wrong.”

People really reacting to this without all the details. I am sure there are good and legitimate reasons why President Trump is taking the oil revenue ransom he extorted from Venezuela and is putting into a Middle Eastern bank account that Congress cannot control.
The main bank account holding revenue from the Venezuelan oil sales is located in Qatar.

“There is no basis in law for a president to set up an offshore account that he controls so that he can sell assets seized by the American military,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

Exclusive: US gets first $500 million Venezuelan oil deal, holding some proceeds in Qatar
The details shared with Semafor mark an initial milestone in the administration’s plan following the ouster of Nicolás Maduro.

looks like donald trump used the military to do a smash and grab for his personal benefit
Seizure ... by whom? If we're asserting that the money is safer in Qatar than the US, that suggests that it is being protected because Qatar has something the US lacks — presumably a lack of accountability to American courts and Congress. www.semafor.com/article/01/1...

People getting angry at this post seem to be reading Walz saying “What Donald Trump wants is violence in the streets” as a scolding about avoiding bad political optics rather than as a warning that Donald Trump wants violence in the streets
State investigators have been on the scene in North Minneapolis.

I know you’re angry. I’m angry. What Donald Trump wants is violence in the streets.

But Minnesota will remain an island of decency, of justice, of community, and of peace.

Don’t give him what he wants.

Most US media is downplaying this by talking about how few soldiers were sent to Greenland yesterday by the Nordic countries, but omits the fact that they’re all planning officers, preparing first for a large exercise followed by long term stay by a larger force.
The Danish foreign minister, coming out of a meeting with the Americans: "It's clear that the president has this wish of conquering Greenland."

I don't think that people have quite measured the severity of what is happening nor the intensity of the required response.
"Denmark is by all means on the right side of history" says 🇩🇰FM Rasmussen, implying 🇺🇸 is on the wrong side.

"We didn't manage to change the American position. It's clear that the president has this wish of conquering Greenland".

before I go to bed, I feel obliged to emphasize how tonight’s rampage in northern Minneapolis was, by no exaggeration, a glorified episode of klan night riding by federally deputized groypers. Yes, DHS always had these people but the difference now is that they’re in charge and with a $175B budget.

It's truly stunning (though unsurprising) how little attention national media give Gov. Walz's speeches and news conferences. He's out there declaring his state under siege, and it's not in headlines outside of MN. They'll cover Trump's lies about him endlessly-- but not his actions.

assuming the Europeans won't fight back is a giant assumption that i don't think this is born out at all seeing as they're already deploying tripwire forces
If Trump invades Greenland, the Europeans won't fight back, Republicans will defend it, Democrats will issue statements, there will be protests, and most Americans will disapprove of it enough to earn Democrats a bit more of the vote in November. Then on to the next thing.
