The agenda item at today's 🇪🇺#EUCO summit on 'climate & competitiveness' is chiefly about undoing some of the climate legislation that was passed during the 2019-2024 term (partly due to a 🇺🇸command).

Happy New Year.

In 2026, Europeans will face a crucial choice that will determine their future. They can be dependents in vassal states of America & Russia, or they can be independent in a united federation.

In my new book, I outline what needs to be done for the latter: www.TheOwnedContinent.eu

The outrageous sanctioning of EU lawmakers and citizens in order to pressure democratically-elected European governments to change their laws shows just how intent the US government is on controlling Europeans' lives.

We must go into 2026 with eyes open.
The US can destroy a European's life with the swipe of a pen
This week's US sanctions against European lawmakers and privacy activists is a major escalation. And it shows the dangers of Europe relying on American economic infrastructure.

Between the new 🇺🇸threat to forcibly annex Greenland and sanctions on EU officials over digital laws, it's clear there is no 'Christmas truce' in the 🇺🇸 rhetorical war on 🇪🇺. The Trump administration is escalating.

Happy holidays. Let's all ask Santa for EU leaders who will defend this continent.
It begins.

Today's Greenland news should be a reminder to anyone in Europe who still needs it.

It is crazy to me what we still have people in Europe saying the problem with America right now is "isolationism". These European Atlanticists do not live in the real world.

My entire X timeline is anti-EU posts from people I don't follow.

Even if I change it from 'for you' to 'following', it switches back to 'for you' each time I open the site.

X is being weaponised against the EU. And unfortunately X is still the public square for European journalists & politicians.

Last night's failure to agree on giving Russia's frozen assets to Ukraine was a bad look for the EU. But the Plan B that they came up with, #EurobondsForUkraine, could actually be better because:

1. Money arrives faster
2. It's legally unquestionable
3. It can be done again
EU's Plan B could see money going to Ukraine faster than Plan A

Behind the disappointing optics, the EU actually had a major breakthrough last night.

As I discussed with @ljohnson.bsky.social in our Substack Live this afternoon, the #EurobondsForUkraine plan agreed at 3am is a sea change in European unity.

Since the European public is largely unaware of what #EUCO Council is (despite it being the most powerful EU institution), helpful to remind that it had an EPP majority for decades.

But now with the entry of the far right, that right-wing majority is shared with Meloni & Orban.

Both developments have Giorgia Meloni's fingerprints all over them

But they were able to agree joint borrowing to get some money to Ukraine

After all night negotiations, EU leaders failed to reach agreement on using frozen Russian assets to fund Ukraine.

But they did agree on a Plan B: a €90bn loan to 🇺🇦 using joint borrowing. But only 24 of the EU27 will participate.
