When did I go from grudgingly creating a Twitter account so I could upload some pictures to actively making a Bluesky account?

I almost certainly won't follow you back unless you're someone I know, but don't let that stop you.

We held our kid’s 4th bday party at a local park and some guy down the street was welding in the same basement where kept a shitload of fireworks. First lots of booms and then 5 or 6 different fire departments sent trucks. The 4 yo thought it was all for his birthday and loved it.
Add another entry in the Book of Plumber Crimes: I thought at first this was Homeowner Crimes but then got to "He informed IFD that he was aware of the use of a blow torch on active gas pipes but noted his experience as a plumber"

We should be on our guard, they *are* that stupid.

But it's not an 'I win' button - it is in fact a very stupid 'destroy yourself for sure and maybe also the country' button.

Given how many polling places and how few ICE and CBP field agents there are, they'd have to be pretty targeted doing this, but also the internet would be functionally instantly slathered with videos of brawls and arrests at polling places which is how you get an AmeriMaidan scenario.
ICE agents gather by the entrance to polling sites and grab anyone who looks brown or black---as they've been doing---so other non-white citizens get the message and decide to stay home for fear of being tackled and suffering a two-day detention.

This again is why Minnesota is nucleus of repression and the resistance. This largely white place - far from the "coastal elites" - has the nerve to attempt true multi-racial democracy, enacting progressive policies, having highest voting participation and quality of life indicators. How dare they.

Again Will is a left wing civil rights lawyer whose worst sin is stubbornness and whose greatest virtue is also stubbornness. That he has been transformed into a demon in the minds of losers is evidence of how pathetically inadequate their vision of actual wickedness is.

If the right-wing is going to go with, "We can't compare ICE to the Gestapo, because ICE only hunts non-citizens," then we need to call this what it is: a form of Holocaust revisionism.

The one thing Manchin had going for him was that his ideas were way to the right of what the country needed but were mostly sincere (and to the left of his state electorate) and he bargained in good faith.

Unlike Sinema, for example. Or, especially, Joe Lieberman.

I don't exaggerate when I say that Andrew Wakefield should be tried for mass murder. We'll never know how many people have died or will die as a direct result of his fraudulent study.
This is the large domino, with the small domino being some random quack in the UK in 1998 trying to undermine the existing MMR vaccine so his business partner can swoop in with his own. Instead he lost his work credentials and now kids are dying needlessly all over the world, so great job everyone.
Austria loses its WHO status as measles-free, too, together with Armenia, Azerbaijan Uzbekistan and Spain. This comes as no surprise, considering the rise in numbers in recent years and the decline in MMR vaccine coverage

Ironically, my impression of the data is that Gaza did NOT prevent the left from voting Harris much at all. As far as we can see, the left turned out overwhelmingly for the Dem - as usual, more reliably than any other group.

Gaza seems to have depressed turnout - but not among leftists.

Correct, in terms of raw electoral power. It's the trying to have it both ways that annoys me.

That said, I will observe also that the strategy of groups like Uncommitted CLAIMS to be basically "I will mobilize these armies for you!" but in reality it's much more "I have a bomb. Do what I say."

Do I blame "the Left" for Harris' defeat? No, there's lots of factors and frankly it was most of all anti-incumbency Malaise backlash, Gaza was imo just a particular subset's excuse.

But you can't really have it both ways, either you're an electorally impotent smol bean or you're a proud wrecker.

Honestly I am worried about younger people too, who have been treating technology as a natural language black box ever since Siri and Alexa and maybe even earlier (when Google search introduced more natural language).

The risk of using systems we don’t understand is being manipulated by them.
