My old district. Sd64 DFL does not F around.

(Feel slightly bad for the R candidate, gotta be hard to campaign on "vote for me, I'll literally shoot you").
Over half of the vote now reporting in the Minnesota #HD64A (Harris+71):

Meg Luger-Nikolai (DFL)- 95.2%
Dan Walsh (R)- 4.8%

Not everyday you see an over 20 point overperformance in a district that backed a Presidential candidate by over 70 points, but today is one of those days

Time for everyone paying attention to Minnesota's General Strike to read up on Aquatennial & Bloody Friday - Minneapolis
The last general strike in Minneapolis was in 1934.

It started in May, leading to a series of small battles between strikers and police. The two sides agreed to a contract on May 25.

Employers reneged in July, and police opened fire on protesters who flooded the streets. Two died, 67 were wounded.

I'm exhausted so maybe this will make no sense, but: in the lead up to World War II, everyone knew conflict was coming, and it was fairly common knowledge that a key element would be conflict between the Nazis and the Soviet Union.

The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact shocked the world.
hey I like that we're all posting thru it but I also wanted to say, in case anybody else is feeling it, that I'm pretty scared and genuinely think that we've passed a real rubicon in the past week or so and that being at the mercy of a handful of dumbfuck lunatics really does a number on your soul.

Seems like this post is bound to show up as an exhibit in one of the cases challenging ICE/Border Control enforcement actions.

When I lived in the twin cities I went on a few dates with a bi woman. She was younger than me, which would have made her maybe a year or two older than Renee Good. She even looked a bit like her in this photo, and one of my memories, per this Twitter user, is that she was quite condescending.

It's worth your time to call Hilton to cancel your account with them. 1-800-446-6677. Here's why:

They asked me if it was because of the ICE thing. I said it was. Then they suggested I wait a couple days to see if they were going to change course.

The pressure is getting to them. Let's keep it up.

I refuse to believe that we as a society are cooked, but I did just have a guy tell me that he asked ChatGPT if you could play Mario on an XBOX because he couldn’t find it.

At last we have elected the king from the constitution, No Kings.
Asked “if there were any limits on his global powers, Mr. Trump said: “Yeah, there is one thing. My own morality. My own mind. It’s the only thing that can stop me.”

I've heard that polymarket is not paying out bets over the invasion of Venezuela because they've determined it wasn't an 'invasion.' So, whatever the dispute resolution mechanism is, I expect us to get to see how it works on a major headline story.
Either A. The betting contracts are extremely well written to address this, or B. Proliferation of betting markets leads to Proliferation of contract litigation.

I'm a bit surprised B hasn't made more news, so I'm assuming A is already happening.

In the last hour I've heard left wing arguments for "Democrats are too supportive of Trump on Venezuela" and "Democrats are too opposed to Trump on Venrzuela" and at some point you're not going to make everyone happy.

again, a lot of our current problems are downstream of the gradual self-abolition of congress
one major problem with civ/mil is that the mil side believes that they are supervised by the executive exclusively.
You can have democracy or you can have a military that fixes the mistakes of the electorate. You can’t have both.

Do not flood the ICE tip line with tips about Nicolas Maduro. It would be very bad if you flooded the ICE tip line with tips about Nicolas Maduro.

Definitely don't call 866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423) to report Nicolas Maduro's illegal presence in the US.

Politics is not fan culture—none of these people are your friends. There are no permanent friends and no permanent enemies, only permanent interests.

We can be grateful that MTG is against Trump without liking her or thinking of her as a long-term ally. The anti-Trump coalition must be huge.

This mostly takes two forms.

1. So, an important thing to understand is that a lot of our politics is shaped by the people around us. Friends, family, acquaintances, coworkers, etc. Also media.

Importantly, this affects political identity as well as political beliefs, but not always the same way.
"Many leftists are actually libertarians." If I get time today I'll do a full thread on why.

I need that Arrested Development "but it might work for us" meme about building a durable long term governing majority.
Hot take: when Democrats return to power, they won't lose it for a long time because of how bad the Republican Party is.
