Just because I feel like I'm losing my mind. He is describing the ACA tax credits right? I mean obviously he doesn't know that, and thinks magical things could happen, but giving people money to buy health insurance is the ACA tax credit. Right? Or am I losing it?
Trump: "I want the money to go into an account for people where they buy their own health insurance. It's so good. The insurance will be better. It'll cost less. Everybody is gonna be happy. They're gonna feel like entrepreneurs. They're actually able to go out & negotiate their own insurance"

Whole statistical methods have been created to quantity British class dynamics

(I'm mostly joking)
Could someone explain to me what is meant when a British person refers to "the middle class" ? Like, in the US, as I hear it, it basically just means a person who makes a certain amount of money, not too far below and not wildly above the median. Seems like a complex concept when UK writers use it?

This is why people start thinking that their vote doesn't matter. This will get picked up on TikTok.

Playing with the ANES 2016-2020-2024 panel, looking at presidential vote choice overtime. Hard to figure out what to do with missingness and what weights to use.

The only thing worse than keeping our current ATC System would be launching one within in 2-3 weeks.

When I was hired here I remember being told that my workload was: 40% teaching; 40% research; and 20% service. Just saw a new document that confirms that we are officially now 50% teaching; 30% research and 20% service. How things change over 7 years.

As of Nov 6 the federal government has brought in $227 billion tariff revenue. If ALL OF IT was spent on sending out $2,000 checks then that would be 113.5 million people who receive checks or 33% of the US population

lmfao he knows he's unpopular so he's trying to hit the affordability button by sending out checks with his name on it again

The Democratic party is the party viewed as the party of low tariffs. What a world.
Almost all Americans know Donald Trump supports high tariffs, but many aren't sure about the positions of other current and historical politicians.

BREAKING: We won!

Today the 3rd Circuit Court ordered the @post-gazette.com to restore our contract it illegally tore up 5 years ago. That’s our health care, PTO, right to a 40-hr. work week, short-term disability and so much more we’ve struck for 3+ years.

It looks like they are accredited through HLC. I'm slightly concerned this is going to setup a fight over the role of accreditation and/or the "capture" of accreditation bodies by the Trump administration.

When Pope Leo spoke about immigration as a pro-life issue, I knew I had to write about it.

Today my piece in @theconversation.com is out about what it means to be "pro-life."

What does ‘pro-life’ mean? There’s no one answer – even for advocacy groups that oppose abortion
The term ‘pro-life’ can seem simple – but how Americans and advocacy groups interpret it varies widely.

Everyday Trump does something that would be a 3 alarm crisis for a Democratic president, and would be described as pivot point for their administration.
Trump to air traffic controllers: "For those that did nothing but complain, and took time off, even though everyone knew they would be paid, IN FULL, shortly into the future, I am NOT HAPPY WITH YOU. You didn’t step up to help the U.S.A. against the FAKE DEMOCRAT ATTACK"

"There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part. You can't even passively take part! And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus" - Mario Savio

AtlasIntel, the self-proclaimed “best pollster in America,” missed last week’s elections by an average of 9 points across races and by 14 points in New Jersey.
Back in June, I wrote about how their accuracy in 2024 distracted from bigger methods issues: www.gelliottmorris.com/p/the-best-p...
What makes the “best pollsters” of 2024 so accurate?
Primarily it’s a mix of experimentation and biased estimates that get lucky
