A new paper shows that less than 2 months of exposure to Twitter’s algorithmic feed significantly shifts people’s political views to the right.

Moving from chronological feed to the algorithmic feed also increases engagement.

This is one of the most concerning papers I’ve read in awhile.

NBC ran a piece where Mary Carrillo went to Norway to find out why they're so good at the Winter Olympics and i was yelling BECAUSE IT'S COLD THERE

then she went to a little tiny ski jump for kids and was like "it's free, equipment is provided, & they don't emphasize results"

and i was like.

As someone who will absolutely certainly be voting in the 2028 Democratic primary for president, I think all of our possible candidates should start putting themselves out there in the attention economy and seeing how people respond to them!
After Brendan Carr and the FCC tried to stop Colbert from hosting James Talarico, he's hosting Jon Ossoff. #GASen

How to protect democracy in two easy steps:

Step #1: Vote by mail or vote early in person as early as you can in the voting window.

Step #2: Volunteer as an election clerk, poll worker, phone banker, or canvasser in your home area or the nearest competitive jurisdiction to you!
Instead of fear-mongering about ICE stealing the election people should be making plans for what they will do this fall—including driving to other states—to get out our vote. /7

We all need to hear it, but most especially the adults who have forgotten that all of our children have inherent worth as human beings.
I don’t know who needs to hear Jesse Jackson leading the kids on Sesame Street in this beautiful call-and-response reminding them that every child is somebody, but here it is

NEW: The next US Census likely won’t be good for New York. The state is projected to lose two congressional seats, and with them, two electoral votes for president.

One reason why blue states are losing ground: The red states build far more housing than they do.
New York Could Lose Seats in Congress Because It Won’t Build Housing
As housing construction booms in red states, blue states are falling behind. That will likely boost Republicans in federal politics.

Gotta say, it’s weird and surreal watching people say awful, untrue stuff about someone running for office whom I’ve known since he was in college.

Online candidate stans are something else.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

This anti-abortion writer gonna force people to give birth so they can die of speculative fiction.
Did other people know this is fiction? It's an incredibly bizarre choice and something I haven't seen magazines do before.

Why are liberal publications still platforming this vocally anti-abortion lady?
I was so impressed with this story about measles in the Atlantic -- the depth of reporting it would take to weave in all these details so fluidly.

Turns out, it was a work of fiction. She researched the effects of measles, but lots of fiction writers do research. www.niemanlab.org/2026/02/the-...
The Atlantic’s Elizabeth Bruenig on her “hypothetical,” heavily reported measles essay

Interesting read. IMO, there isn’t a very clear/coherent Progressive-Democratic foreign policy ideology. (Feel free to correct me!)

Chris Murphy is a likely VP contender in 2028 due to his foreign policy experience (plus steadfast work on gun violence).

Watching Home Alone and there are so many points where the plot could have taken a TURN:
* if he got caught shoplifting the toothbrush (parental neglect!)
* if the Wet Bandits hit him with the van (☠️)
* if Mom got an earlier flight (she thwarts robbers?)
