Unwanted DMs get you blocked. So does hatred and people who double down unapologetically on unwarrented rudeness. And just general assholery. I don't got time for that.
Okay. General question: Anyone who's brain I can pick about Cataplexy? (Medical condition associated with narcolepsy.) I hadn't heard of it before yesterday. And now I have. So many questions.

The biggest discord server I'm active in has three emoji's, clearly a set: "EAT pls", "Take Your Meds", and "Hydrate or Die Straight". To encourage people to go to bed we have am emoji of a character with a cartoon mallet. I'm fairly sure it's named :BONK:
When life feels heavy and especially emotionally fraught, I keep rediscovering the immense healing power of:

✨ drink some water
✨ get some sleep

Literally every rahaeli thread is fifty naive people lining up to go “but have you thought about—” and she goes “YES WE SETTLED THIS IN 2005 WHILE YOU WERE LEARNING TO EAT SOLID FOOD.”
We as a profession have tried all your ideas already! The reason we aren't using them is not that "corporations" are evil, it's because they very simply do not fucking work.

It is super easy to not literally engage in violent rhetoric ever, but especially in the written format of social media. Like, this is "Shut the Fuck Up Friday" *basics* level.
You can wish someone ill anyway, I promise. Prime example:
"They can go step on a Lego in the dark."
For the record, there are at least three misdirections-at-best in this week's Main Character's thread about how her being suspended for 72 hours for violating the violent rhetoric policy is the greatest outrage ever to happen:

NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

This obituary is a masterwork. "Incisive" is the best descriptor for it - Begley writes with a scalpel here, being scrupulously fair while painting a picture of a mediocre man who lept into the light of competence at one single, well-timed moment, and dined on that moment for the rest of his life.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.
