I hope no one lets any elected official to pretend to forget about this. They want people to starve.
Breaking News: The Trump administration told states to undo any steps to provide full food stamp benefits to low-income families, threatening financial penalties if the states do not comply. It was unclear how that would affect the program.

Altman has been quite clear about his strategy.
From the 2008 crash he learned that if you bind enough of the economy to your business you can do whatever you like; government will decide the rules no longer apply.
What he's selling is unaccountabilty.

I honestly don’t get the value of this company. They hoover up energy and water. Their product constantly gets things wrong and, in extreme cases, coaches people into suicide.
And it’s all built on what seems to be malicious and vast intellectual property theft.
What does OpenAI offer the world?

This is hard to watch. I don't have words for how angry this makes me.
ICE agents in Chicago violently detain a non verbal autistic man for being “non compliant”
He couldn’t “comply” because of his disability…they don’t care
This is not the first time they’ve gone after a disabled person
They target the most vulnerable because it’s an easy way to meet their quota

This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.
Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.
This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.
The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.
People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.
And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

We have entire generations of boys & men running around with football induced brain-damage, which may or may not involve increased aggression & violence as symptoms
We *all* have to deal with that because people like to watch them give each other brain damage
But we don’t have to be quiet about it

However, reports say OpenAI ended 1H 2025 with $9.6bn in cash - suggesting OpenAI's losses are billions higher than reported.

Hello? Anyone in there? Do you not see the connection between violence in society and…violence in society?

My version: Nichols is a stubborn douchebag who knows why he is wrong and doesn’t care.
My version: Nichols is a stubborn douchebag who knows why he is wrong and doesn’t care.
The terminological slippage Nichols always employs hides the distinction btwn a “mature” fascist state & a fascist party engaged in consolidation. Diff expressions of fascism, sure, but prob best not to wait around for full consolidation. I can only assume at this point it’s intentional on his part.
Here's where I disagree with @radiofreetom.bsky.social. It's true that the average person in the US, right now, doesn't feel particularly oppressed. But the average person in Germany, in 1933, didn't feel particularly oppressed. They weren't the ones being targeted.
