I think the big thing everyone is missing here in the “affordability/std of living” thing is that if you don’t feel like your housing, healthcare, and/or food is secure, it doesn’t really matter how fucking cheap a flatscreen TV is, and there are a lot of people who can barely afford the essentials

I think a cis probably het white woman who minimizes misogynistic sex pests as merely 'saying ill-advised shit' and who buddied up to white women who called trans WOC rapists (based on nothing) really should 1) stay out of drama on here and 2) not be given access to marginalized people.

I’ll put it more simply: my first (and best) aerobatic flight instructor looked me in the eye before our first lesson and said: “remember, airplanes really like the ground. They really really like the ground.”
Aviation is inherently dangerous: a million pounds of metal and fuel magically flying at 500mph. The engineering and systems we have developed are just amazing and have given everyone the idea that it’s all cheap and safe. It ain’t. It’s expensive and it requires constant vigilance and organization.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

The excesses of MeToo was the acknowledgement that rape happens far more than people realize, and that its between people who know each other rather than people snatching you off the street.
When people talk about the excesses of MeToo, they have to lie, because the reality is that there was no massive social reckoning forcing people to believe survivors or hold perpetrators accountable. In fact, there has been a significant backsliding and new punishments in rejection of MeToo
