If you're arguing that Jar Jar Binks was good because he was intended to humanize (so to speak) indigenous people, consider that maybe a character that Caribbean groups contemporaneously complained embodied western stereotypes wasn't the best way to do that.

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

Jones - as an incumbent - lost by more than 20 points when the two faced off before. Nothing about Jones has changed. This would live and (probably) die on the changes in opinions of Tuberville after seeing him legislate and the GOP as a whole over Trump II.
Former U.S. Sen. Doug Jones appears to be headed for another political showdown against current Sen. Tommy Tuberville, this time for the governor’s office.

So, next week I'm presenting a paper at APPAM about a key difference between people's intuition of voter fraud and how fraud actually plays out.

This follows extremely close elections in 2000, 2004, 2016, 2020 and 2024 that lead to conspiracy theories about electoral manipulation.
Not that anyone here needs to hear this, but for the record, in a democracy "people voted differently from the way I expected or hoped" does not constitute evidence of fraud, no matter how many pretty charts and graphs of "voting patterns" you make.

Mamdani's first statement on antisemitism as mayor-elect got some weird pushback
After someone spraypainted a swastika on a yeshiva, Zohran Mamdani condemned antisemitism. Somehow, this generated conspiracy theories.
