This book (recommended by the lovely @april.social) is absolutely destroying me.

Take the estrogen. Just take it.

*sympathy* - I'm being forced not to sleep by capitalism.

I know this is of zero interest to anyone else, but I ran across it and it made me feel...nostalgic. This is the logo for the webpage that was served by the first network server I ran - running on an StrongARM RiscPC with a whole 32Meg of RAM.

Not exactly the right kind of bite, but a bite none the less...

Yeah, best fucking gig I've been to in at least a decade.

Fucking exceptional crowd skills and awesome atmosphere.

Omfg.

Okay, let's see if we can break it with the make windows 11 tolerable tools.

Thankfully my wife has a windows laptop so I don't have to reinstall windows 10 and then reinstall windows 11. I hope.
September 26, 2025 at 8:48 PM
Got the win 11 installer and ran it. Seemed to be working and then...

Mmmm.

Going swimmingly.
September 26, 2025 at 8:35 PM
God, I'm taken back decades to installing win 3.1 from floppy disk. I keep waiting for..
September 26, 2025 at 6:40 PM
Because I'm a cheap bitch I'm installing win10pro (from dvd!) and upgrading to win 11 (pro). Let's hope that works.

If you're wondering where the processor cycles are going, so the fuck am I.

And yes, I could absolutely have invested days of my time into attempting to find this bug. But since I need Windows anyway and also y'know, I chose framework because they officially support Linux on this machine, uh, no.

This, incidentally is how responsive it is right now.

I realize I'm not exactly Annie Holland, but I do have a working amp that I repaired and a working bass I rebuilt. So there's that.
September 19, 2025 at 2:21 AM
Reassembled and it does now actually have a power led that comes on rather than sort of dimly intermittently glowing.
September 19, 2025 at 1:08 AM
Okay the fuse holder now holds the fuse which is an improvement.
September 19, 2025 at 1:08 AM
Alright, switch cleaning. There's only one that actually does audio stuff and is accessible. I also reflowed a bunch more joints.
September 19, 2025 at 1:08 AM
Damnit, broke the thread already. Anyhow, before I got to fixing the fuse holder part 2 I saw this and I'm beginning to think this amplifier has had a bit of a hard life.
September 19, 2025 at 1:08 AM
Eagle eyed viewers may have noticed another teeny little problem in addition to the fact that apparently the other end of the fuse holder just cracked as I tried to put the fuse in.
September 19, 2025 at 12:14 AM
First we put a shitty bead of solder along the crack, then we reflowed the joints, and then because I strongly suspect at some point it's just going to fracture I put a bit of wire in to hopefully stop it dropping into the amp and going bang.
September 19, 2025 at 12:11 AM
Anyhow the board is out - sorta - I can't be bothered to disconnect the earth since it doesn't seem to wanna come off.

First problem is that the fuse just dropped out - it looks like the fuse holder is held together with magic.
