correct and harrowing take. it has tended to converge on promoting behaviors that are compulsive or easy to turn compulsive, which cause injury and isolation as well as screwing with the neurochemistry of developing brains among ppl with limited autonomy and zero real life experience
beyond the semi-ironic memey shit looksmaxxing as a whole is more of a decentralized body dysmorphia cult operating under pro-ana like mechanics

Wildly fluctuating prices used to be a hallmark of collapsing economies but are now proof of Business Genius Innovation
(5/11) Walmart, Whole Foods, and Kohls are switching to electronic shelf labels that can display dynamic prices. Kroger deployed them with Microsoft AI—a setup a 2024 Senate inquiry warned could enable “surge pricing” via facial recognition. (Kroger claims it will only lower prices.)

The one thing mewegenics is correct about but does not really interrogate well because it’s got the brain of a 13 year old in 2005 is that cat and dog breeding is incredibly fucked up conceptually and practically.

I think this post and the response to it are a real lesson in context collapse and confirmation bias. Checking @amyklobuchar.com’s feed she’s got plenty of messaging about ICE, but when this gets reposted into the feeds of people who (like me) don’t follow her it looks tone deaf in isolation.
hello and welcome to the political genius exam. here is question one. which is a more compelling message:

- the president is sending armies to occupy cities and kidnap and kill people and your town could be next
- a meal at the cheesecake factory that previously cost $100 now costs $104.9
Romance alert: Trump's reckless tariffs have Valentine’s Day costs up across the board:

Roses 🌹16.6%
Chocolates🍫 18.7%
Ribeye 🥩 25.4%
Restaurant meals 🍽️ 4.9%

In practice, "deport" here means "get rid of". You can all do the math on the several things that could mean in practice
“Wants to deport Native Americans” is a laugh line for some people but it’s also one of those cases where it is probably most important and not just a leftist gotcha to remember that that was the historical policy of the U.S. from its founding
He Wants to Deport 100 Million “Third World Savages.” He May Win Statewide Office in Texas.
He calls his opponents “gay” and “retarded,” and he wants to deport 100 million “third world savages.” Naturally, he’s running for railroad commissioner.
