This is the quiet holiness of less. The fewer the pixels, the purer the faith. A hymn sung through a CRT.

during The Raid 2, whenever "girl with hammers" is off screen, the other characters should be asking, "where's girl with hammers?"

Couldn’t sleep last night so I put Bone Tomahawk on. Forgot how fantastic this nightmare fuel is. God-tier genre whiplash that nukes the idea that screen violence should be neat, legible, and meaningful.

At THAT moment I told my half-watching wife:

“I love you. Trust me. Go to bed. Now.”

Italian voice actor Carlo Bononi was the voice of all of the characters on Pingu. A trained clown by trade, he used a theater technique called grammelot, which consists of "speaking" in a mix of babbled gibberish noises. He improvised all the voices live and unscripted.

This photo was taken in 1911 using glass plate technology by Herbert Ponting who was part of Scott's Antarctic expedition,

The composition and detail are exquisite with the band of white snow/ice creating a perfect frame around the two people and the ship in the distance

Iconic imo

And caring for people aside, it makes zero business sense.

Smart leaders see that big mistakes happen when people are tired. And breakthroughs where someone saves 10 weeks of work in a day come to those feeling fresh. Good luck crunching that ratio away.

It makes for great war stories though.
crunch in games is reckless, it’s running a car without oil or care, watching sparks fly and smoke billow and going “that’s what maximum efficiency sounds like, when parts fail I’ll replace them knowing I squeezed 110% from them”

except the parts are people so the driver is evil as well as stupid

I seem to have accidentally spent the day catching up on films and BAIT is easily the best black and white Cornish horror movie about lobster I've seen in years.

I'm going through old Fortnite videos I tweeted on twitter when twitter was a thing. Many of you don't know this but Fortnite has always been a great, simple, good fps game and somehow remained so amid all the surrounding bullshit. Forever? Probably not. Here's a surprising play vs a helicopter

A career in video games.
What's the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I got out of the tub, skidded in water and tripped over the toilet. Ankle sprain.

I loved reading this to my kids when they were growing up. The ending is straight out of a David Fincher movie.
Bought this book for my two mates’ babies for Christmas and I’m dying.

This went down staggeringly well with the boy. And blimey, how this movie changes in the cinema. There's no hiding from all the uncomfortable details in front of an IMAX screen. The 4th wall breaks leaped out at me. Jack keeps glancing at us, like he's securing permission. This one gave me chills

When an Unreal 5.3+ game runs, it will immediately kick off precompilation of global shaders. You should wait for that to complete before starting the game, otherwise you'll likely get hitches. You do that with the NumPrecompilingPSOsRemaining node. #uetips

A good video for those interested in the area. A decade ago I remember writing something like 10 different systems for Bezier by the time it shipped.

Pure gpu, cpu sim & point sprites, and everything in-between. I wouldn't organise memory like he does here but Cliff ships games so, meh, who cares!
Hurrah! I have just uploaded the third video in my series about programming a PC strategy game in C++ with your own engine! Its all about particle systems. (Its a big topic). There are 2 other videos by me on C++ already posted. Please share! (and watch :D) youtu.be/bkaQ4AQWId8 #programming

I was 8 years old and just got into bed. My mum came rushing up the stairs and into my bedroom. "Come down now. You liked Star Wars, you're going to love this." And I did.

She may have covered my eyes when John Hurt was having his dinner.
ITV viewing on July 11 1982 was a bit good...
