New blog. There’s a new series of Callan - and a new Hunter. So what will Callan make of him, and can we trust a Soviet defector?
I take a look at the first episode of series 2 of Callan: Red Knight, White Knight.

Black and Asian staff left feeling ‘deliberately intimidated’, according to chief executive of one NHS trust
NHS staff who care for patients in their own homes fear some areas have become “no-go zones” for them because of the presence of St George’s flags, health leaders have said.
Black and Asian staff have been left feeling “deliberately intimidated” as a result of the flags that were put up in many parts of England during the summer, according to the chief executive of one NHS trust in England, who asked to remain anonymous. Continue reading...

The intro mentions voice notes, which I’ve never used, and I’m already chronically awful at spotting when someone is flirting with me, so I think this Millennial is just not built for it and is ready to accept permanent singledom.

At my university there was a similar chap I nicknamed 1940s Man/Gary Sparrow, who I regularly spotted in the History and WWII section of the library. I hope he’s also still out there in his 40s gear.
Loving today's news that the mysterious "fedora man" outside the Louvre heist was actually a 15-year-old museum visitor who dresses like a 1940s French detective all the time, just because. apnews.com/article/louv...

Not enough attention is being paid to the effective closure of the bulk of one of the 2 or 3 most important public archives for modern British history. A terrible own goal for the BBC as a public-service agency.

A brilliant article from @tobyhadoke.bsky.social on why the BBC's Written Archive needs to remain properly accessible.
And "Doctor Who is, for many of us then, the gateway drug" rings so true when it comes to delving into television history.

Defending the WAC: ‘Bigger on the Inside’ Doctor Who Archives by Toby Hadoke
It’s always bloody Doctor Who isn’t it? The show about the police box that’s bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. There is so much in the rich history of BBC drama that requires scrutiny…
