My wife thought I was being snobbish because I said this being on Channel 5 means it’ll probably be rubbish. Halfway through watching the first one she looked at me and said “you were right”. It was pale imitation of the original.
Play for Today helped launch the careers of Ken Loach, Ray Winstone, June Brown and Kenneth Branagh. Now Channel 5 is bringing it back…
