There were a couple of Frogger variants. I have the yellow CGL one which was licensed from Konami. In the US, Coleco released a green one under license from (then local license holders) SEGA.

May have been later than 1988, as there are reviews from the early 1990s. ANYWAY. Never mind.

Quick summary: it's a single-screen, turn-based strategy game based on the marines' first encounter with the aliens of Hadley's Hope. The aim is to get across the board to the APC with as many marines alive as poss. It's unlicensed, seemingly made by one or two people. Expanded second edition, then?

Because of course this was bound to happen, and on the day the printing starts... despite a year of research and interviews for Aliens: The Video Games, today I learned about the shareware Aliens for Atari ST, from 1987/88. Totally unofficial, never sold, but nevertheless NOT in the book. *Shit*.

Mine is still in the post cos we only seem to get deliveries every four or five days atm.

@mackeza.bsky.social if I bring this (if it arrives!) on Tuesday is it 'cringe' to get you to sign it?

Aliens: The Video Games is at the printers.

Quite an important step, that, in getting a book made.

It's available for pre-order now at Amazon and Waterstones, but many more retailers will have their listibgs live next month - and there will be an early bird discount via the publisher. More, soon.

Waking up to hearing this be both-sided on the radio this morning sure was a disappointed/not surprised moment for our times.
Ratcliffe is, quite obviously, factually, morally & intellectually wrong about immigration. But his racist comments will be 'both-sided' everywhere because people who simply don't like seeing non-white faces aren't ashamed to say so anymore.

I get it and understand the tech. I just didn't clock the (big enough? Sure) disclaimer, and knowing Nintendo I'm quite surprised there wasn't a reinforcement of it on the end card. But also: morning blurriness.

Nah all good, that's *there* enough.

IDK what high school is, still, in relation to the UK system, despite all the movies. But Colin Firth of many movies fame went to my sixth form, *several* years before I was there.

Jonathan Ross off the telly attended the university that I, much later, taught at.
Who's the most famous alum of your high school?

I'll go first: David Draiman of Disturbed
guys i just found out i went to the same high school as howard lutnick. please respect my privacy at this time.

It's a bit confusing them showing an OG Switch there and then saying it's exclusive to Switch 2. I get it, cos it's a local 'game share' feature, but I'm surprised there's not a Big Disclaimer on it. Imagine non-gamer sorts seeing that ad and assuming it'd work on their 2017 console.
February 12, 2026 at 6:47 AM
Nah you'll be fine in that regard.

In the excitement of seeing #saintsfc mount a winning second-half comeback last night, I missed that Eastleigh managed the same, albeit a goal less, away to Solihull. What a night for the SO postcode havers.
