The indie games industry has become less about making an interesting or cool game, and now purely about social media follower counts and following trends.
TBH not sure I want to be in it any more. I'm still working on my game (Ridiculous Space Battles) for fun, and I'll release it, but still sad.

Incredibly scary report, given that 1.7 degrees is catastrophic anyway, and that we currently capture and remove basically zero carbon. Unless the entire world wakes up immediately and takes action, humanity is absolutely fucked. A must-read for anyone under 70. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

If you ignore AI, the US economy is even more fucked. www.nbcnews.com/business/mar... Nobody wants to invest in an authoritarian regime with a delusional king. No immigrants want to be rounded up by armed masked goons. And the administration is pure anti-science and education.
The US is fucked.

Steam's 'more like this' system is absolute nonsense. I just played an isometric tower defence game. 'More like this' recommends silksong and R V there yet.
On what fucking planet?
Just rename it 'Top selling games' if its not even vaguely going to compare tags and genres...

I read a biography of masayoshi son. Anyone panic selling nvidia because masa sold, and because masa is always such a stable genius should really read it. He comes across as some wild impulsive random politician more than a serious investor. Being right once, in a sea of disasters is not genius.

This is what happens when people declare science 'woke'. Same problem as with climate change. If there is another covid with the fascist mango in charge, the US death toll will be catastrophic.
Canada was officially declared “measles-free” 27 years ago, but no more. The rising number of measles outbreaks is a symptom of a deeper issue: declining trust in public messaging about science and health, which has led to decreased vaccination rates. buff.ly/V7RPaXR

I have a small round tub of extremely high-end salted caramel chocolate ball things, and when I eat one, I do not care what they cost, because they are like pure transcendental bliss and joy in confectionary form. I want them at my funeral.

I really hate the 'man in the pub' logic. I have heard it for over 10 years about EVs, and solar panels, and now I hear it about AI everywhere. People who have never experienced the product are 100% convinced that everyone who has must be wrong, and its rubbish and they know best just *because*.

Maybe Keir should demand the heads of major US news networks any time they imply Britain is on the brink of civil war or that we live under sharia law. Or does it not work both ways?

Wow. The pathetic state of UK journalism. This guardian reporter was flown to the COP30 climate conference. But what are they most interested in? Their coffee portion was too small. Really? That is your insightful analysis and takeaway? FFS how do they think this comes across? funny?

Presidential pardons are an absolutely ridiculous idea, that any civilised country would consider a sign of fascism.
If sentencing is too high, change the guidelines. If something should be legal, legalize it. But pardons are like a roman emperor sparing people from execution based on a whim.

Will AI one day replace teachers? Yes. And that day is probably as fast as the systems can be set up. At least for some topics. The one-on-one, incredibly patient private tutor who is an expert in every field will soon not be a staggeringly pricey rich-parents phenomena, but commonplace.
