I am going to be honest that if you are a person who does not have a preference between Gavin Newsom and JD Vance then you are using the term “leftist” incorrectly.

It doesn’t mean “hates Democrats more than the guy inventing new blood libels for Hatians.” The word for that is “Republican”
Leftists in '25: We're not voting for Gavin

Leftists in '26: We're not voting for Gavin

Leftists in '27: We're not voting for Gavin

Leftists in '28: We're not voting for Gavin

Gavin in '28: *loses the general against a JD Vance/Erika Kirk ticket*

Liberals in '28: Why would leftists do this? 😡

If the Civil Rights Movement were occurring today, every dipshit faux-OPSEC concerned leftist on this site would be scream-crying about how ineffective MLK is and how he's putting people in danger.

Buncha fucking cowards.

The key here is that the folks arguing for violence aren't doing so because they think it's more effective in principle, they're arguing for violence because they want to LARP as Lenin or Che.
if you want to be the violent wing your job is to choose high value, universally loathed targets, and to know that your job is to die or languish in prison for a cause that will spit on your name
what do you make of the theory i’ve seen in various places that nonviolence really only works when it has a violent wing to back it up? “how to blow up a pipeline” argues that many successful nonviolent movements had such an arrangement

It's not enough to just say "but Obama didn't do that." Sure, it's true, but that's not how memory works. You need to tell a true story about what really happened, populate the discourse with evidence and examples that give life to a memory of the Obama era that people can picture and engage with.

If the current state of hyper-aggressive, violent, and even murderous ICE/CPB/DHS activity on US streets comes to be accepted as "normal American stuff, just like what Obama did and no one complained," then that's some major grease on our slide into ever greater authoritarianism.

Without dismissing the seriousness of perennial voter suppression efforts from the GOP, some ppl on this site act like this is the first election theyve ever tried to do stuff like that and also like there isnt an entire infrastructure in place to spot it & push back against it
I live in a swing district in Texas that Republicans greedily want to get back, and I have to say there are people in safe blue states who need to get a grip on the voter suppression issue

An early indicator that we were entering into a deeply flawed/dangerous era of politics as aesthetics rather than substance was a bunch of liberals/leftists getting suckered by Gabbard back in 2014/2015 into thinking she as anti war instead of Pro-Assad bc she made mouth sounds in the right shape

vote shaming as a concept never stood up under its own weight. consumer-brained term
so, you see the bernie or bust people were actually right because libs failed to persuade them

now, when we tried *that was also considered illegitimate* any argument they didn't like was considered 'vote shaming'

I will never quite understand the idea of rubbing liberals' faces in Trump getting elected.

After all, by that logic, leftists failed *even harder* because they couldn't even manage to beat milquetoast centrists, nonetheless *Trump*!
"resistance liberals can't have been that right about trump if they couldn't stop him"

The systems "Dems thought would save us" is voters, and we acknowledge that we underestimated how goddamned stupid, vapid, and plain fucking evil a lot of voters in fact are.
“months of wrangling”

One of many things Trump has revealed about the systems Dems thought would save us is they’re maddeningly slow & bureaucratic

The bad guys are back at their hideout with the loot before the sheriff can even get his pants on
WSJ Exclusive: A U.S. intelligence official has alleged wrongdoing by Tulsi Gabbard in a whistleblower complaint that is so highly classified it has sparked months of wrangling over how to share it with Congress, according to U.S. officials and others familiar with the matter.

It sure is weird how the whole "Trump and Mamdani are texting constantly" story just kinda got slid under the rug.
When we found out Zohran Mamdani is trump’s penpal we were told that being friendly with donald trump was critically important harm reduction
The fact that some of you take this account seriously is humiliating.

Schumer has graduated to world-historical levels of political malpractice. Van Papen, Quisling, Stephen A. Douglas-level incompetence that in retrospect becomes indistinguishable from evil.

A Democratic candidate supported by the DNC won a tough race handily, clearly this can only be bad news for the DNC.
What does this even *mean*? The candidate was a Dem supported by the DNC. What are we *doing* here?
You know who really ought to pay attention the result in TX Sen 9? Democratic leadership in Congress.
