🌱🌿 Five Things You Can Do To Save the Butterflies:

1. Stop using pesticides and herbicides (unless you're trying to manage aggressive invasive species). Everything else I list will be designed to attract life to your yard and that's pretty pointless if you kill them after they arrive.
Will be interesting what my iron levels are on my lab results seeing as I've had two periods in one month and the current one decided it wasn't done yet and started up again today.

Weather forecast has been updated. The high tomorrow will be 1⁰ F. The low will be -10⁰ F. Wind gusts of up to 40 mph.

Sounds like a great day for a roaring fire and a pot of white chicken chili (which I cannot eat but is still cozy to make.)

Also considering selling a black and silver waterman Carène fountain pen for $180 shipped CONUS. Also a fine nib but writes like a medium.
I’m basically down to offering fountain pen sales in return for money for food. I don’t have that many left, but they are some nice ones. I have the Leonardo Nuvolo Lavender in a fine nib, still. Still willing to let it go for $80 shipped.

Did a card pull, past/present/future regarding my career and this was what I got. The past and future make total sense but I'm not sure how to interpret the three of cups in this scenario since I do not have irl friends at this point in my life.

I'm thinking maybe it means my present should be

Turned off the mini split in the shed because it can't keep up in cold like this and went in there yesterday to get something only to see the floor absolutely littered with the bodies of dead box elder and stink bugs that were hibernating in it. Unexpected pest control.

These new patterns were created at the request of my friend @kirstylunn.bsky.social (founder of @molkeofficial.bsky.social) who is disabled and a disability advocate. They came from conversations around about bodies that don’t behave predictably and language that people still treat as uncomfortable.

The world's best phlebotomist works at the lab I go to. She comes out to my car to do my blood draws because it prevents a POTS episode and she was even willing to do it today with a -4 wind chill. So grateful for her.

Big Girl task done for the day.

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

Direct sowed some of my native seeds in the meadow and the part shade bit behind it. Tall thistle, spotted bee balm, giant purple hyssop, meadow blazing star, New England aster, late figwort. I know it will likely be a few years before I see them, but that's one of the fun things about native seeds.

Husband keeps insisting we can make it on only his salary, which is 50k less than we were making per year previously. His budget does not include out of pocket medical costs, clothing, hobbies, gifts, costs to repair/replace/maintain anything and it cuts our grocery budget in half.

Okay, buddy.

All this "the whole world hates you" talk means nothing to me. I not only voted Republican until 2016, I volunteered for those fuckers since I was about 6. I worked for Right to Life, ffs. I am partially directly responsible for Trump! I fucking hate myself!

Let's talk about keeping your reptiles safe in the cold, with no power.

Step one: don't panic. Weather in wherever they're from also fluctuates. They might be annoyed and might sleep a lot but one day of no lights won't harm them. 🦎

Every day some story breaks me some. Today it’s the guy who approached parents at a school patrol, told them he was with Indivisible, and asked about how the patrol system works. The parents gave vague answers, followed him back to his car — and of course it was ICE.

Too many big changes in a short period of time for my nervous system to manage. Plus the bonus conflict with husband and perimenopause kicking things up a notch.

I'm not sleeping well, I'm forgetting to eat and drink, and I'm headed for a full flare if I can't get things under control soon.

If you would like to be in the slightest bit an ally, at the very least, when you see someone else masking, in a store, at the doctors, put one on yourself. Let that person know by your action that you have not abandoned them and they are not alone. Because they could be living on rice and yeast.

So due to medical shenanigans (some kitten randomly peeing blood, and a skin infection), I have Potats on the extended stay plan. They’re eating me out of house and home.

If you’re game to help keep the monsters fed- we appreciate it. They’re eating a case of food in 3-4 days 😳
