Thread. “AI is patching up the holes in conspiracy theories and so making them seem more reasonable, making them easier to spread and more resilient to collapse” was not on my bingo card.

AI relieves the pressure of cognitive dissonance. That’s … not great.
Bellingcat’s contact email has always been a magnet for people with fairly unusual views; paranoid delusions, sprawling conspiracies, the works. But recently, the pattern has shifted, we’re seeing more and more emails clearly written with ChatGPT.

Will say again. If this was London or Paris, it would not be tolerated. But we expect Ukrainians to put up with this horror every night. Indeed, we in the west are getting inured to it. It should enrage us.

Today there was an attempted ICE raid in Bensonhurst & community members showed up. Even though NYPD collaborated with ICE by trying to disburse the crowd; community members stood their ground & ICE left without kidnapping a single person per the rapid response groups I'm on. We protect us!

As an aside, you might as well get ready for some serious austerity next recession and no stimmy checks. Pols are gonna be terrified to do anything that might be inflationary.
Q: Would a $2,000 tariff dividend check going to people be inflationary?

Bessent: Maybe we could persuade Americans to save that.

The cartels utilize terror as a tool of furthering their criminal enterprise (as do many criminal organizations), but they are not engaged in a campaign of terrorism towards the US, which is a distinction worth highlighting since the latter claim is at the core of the Admin's use of the word here

Yes and no. It depends on who is using the phrase "terrorism" and in what context

Yes they use terror as a (mainly local) means to further their business enterprise, but no they don't do what we've come to call ExOps for the supposed purposes of some vague global reordering
Cartels employ terrorism routinely. They kill journalists, mayors and mayoral candidates, and all manner of civilians to terrorize the rest into tolerating them. There are 99 problems with what we’re doing about them but calling them “narco-terrorists” ain’t one.
