I have seen more anger amongst Facebook normies than I might have expected tbh
I do think this is a point of radicalization because a lot of angry, angry normal people were ready to dig in and suffer a lot in order to make fascists suffer a little, and their resolution was sold out and made into a mockery

JFC is this bad. Straight up cash transfer to the shadiest Republican senators and an assault on the rule of law.
Buried inside the deal to reopen government is a provision that would give Senators private right of action to sue for millions in damages over their phone records being analyzed by Jack Smith's team.

This echoes the conservative counterargument to union rights a century ago, the so-called "liberty of contract."
As FDR's Interior Secretary Harold Ickes noted, that kind of "liberty" merely gave helpless individuals the freedom to "drive a bargain with a great corporation."

Trump: "I want the money to go into an account for people where they buy their own health insurance. It's so good. The insurance will be better. It'll cost less. Everybody is gonna be happy. They're gonna feel like entrepreneurs. They're actually able to go out & negotiate their own insurance"

Spending Bill Would Pave Way for Senators to Sue Over Phone Searches
Republicans have voiced outrage that Jack Smith looked at G.O.P. lawmakers’ phone records surrounding the Jan. 6 attack. Legislation to reopen the government would allow them to sue for $500,000 each.

Anyway, maybe this is a good time for all of us to start thinking about whether there are any lessons to take from the UK 1911 Parliament Act:

Much of this year has felt like somewhere in between, say, the Seven Days Battles and Antietam. Any outcome that would have enabled us to go back to the status quo ante is gone now, but it's not clear yet where the current battle lines are taking us.
