CityNerd — What's Better for Football? A Spicy Top 10
Conventional wisdom is, football stadiums take up too much space and are vacant too many days of the year, so they don't belong in cities. Counterpoint: just about every great European football club. ...

SEATTLE!!!

We’ve now taken the lead by 91 votes! 🤯 This thing is certainly not over! Over 1,000 ballots have been challenged, so if you haven’t tracked your ballot yet get on it! Our trusty volunteers have been working hard to "cure" ballots so they count! We're so close!

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

Once again reminding everyone that "insane ripoff financial products/scams are awesome" vs "all debt is a sinful moral failing pushed by (((bankers)))" actually represents a huge wedge within the far-right.
Trying to think of a worse idea but I'm coming up short

I saw way too much stuff like this when I visited earlier this year. On the plus side, Toronto doesn’t have weird masked kidnappers running around

Seriously, Nebula costs almost nothing and just getting a handful of video makers I like on the service is worth it. There’s a bunch of stuff on there I haven’t explored but friend says is also good. So… yeah. Not to have more streaming services but Nebula is pretty good.
If you aren’t already on Nebula, this is a cool opportunity to gorge yourself. Link in reply!

Charlotte's transport referendum has won.

1% sales tax increase is expected to generate $19 billion/20 years, funding:
—Transit (40%): Red Line commuter rail, Silver Line light rail, Gold Line extension, Blue Line extension
—Road projects (40%)
—Bus improvements, creating frequent bus network (20%)
Just with early vote reporting, Charlotte's transportation sales tax referendum is currently up 55–45%. But I caution this is just the early vote!
