It’s definitely quite noticeable how the “alarmists” keep becoming more right while not becoming any more respected.
You know, we can just say this without the “I held off on using the term bc I’m not an irrational leftist” dig.

I think the people who recognized what the GOP had become—long before we had ICE agents shooting Americans—deserve *credit.*
Yes, It’s Fascism
Until recently, I thought it a term best avoided. But now, the resemblances are too many and too strong to deny.

The Republican Party’s largest donor was begging to party with Jeffery Epstein on his private island used for raping children.

This won’t be the leading news today.

No, no, he just asked that so he’d know what day/night to AVOID going there!
OK, so Musk was planning to go to Epstein's island, but it's not like he went there with the intent to go to a wild party or something, it was probably just some business. Excuse me, an email just came in.

*Reads:* "What day/night will be the wildest party on your island?"

This is truly one of those celebrity deaths that just … doesn’t seem possible.
The loss of Catherine O'Hara feels monumental. An icon of pop culture, comedy, and cult, she had that effortless delivery that we know reveals the skill of a master. From SCTV to SCHITT'S CREEK, as well as her work w/ Tim Burton, Christopher Guest, and beyond, was...and is...absolutely definitive.

Fascists are emotional little pissbabies and invariably start reacting in astrategic ways. They’ll cause an insane amount of damage, but they’ll also continue to fuel the backlash.
the arrest of journalists in minneapolis, including don lemon, is more evidence that the only move the administration knows how to make is to use force, and does not know how to respond when that force is met with defiance and indifference.

Impeach this woman, right TF now. She took an oath to uphold the Constitution, and arresting a journalist is per se impeachable conduct.
Bondi is continuing to livetweet these arrests.

Lemon and three others were arrested.

They include Jamael Lundy, a candidate for state Senate, a fact that was known to DOJ (it was referenced in the underlying FBI affidavit unsealed after the first arrests).

It’s sincerely a dark horse favorite of mine—for either author’s body of work! I just earlier tonight finished reading a sequence that I think is an all-timer scare scene.
Reading BLACK HOUSE for the third time and really loving it a lot this time. Very interested to see what @scribeofhades.bsky.social thinks about it. And very intrigued to hear @natcassidy.bsky.social ‘s insights.

While independent bookstores are giving out free whistles, hosting protest sign making events, and donating proceeds to mutual aid, Amazon is *checks notes* providing technology that assists ICE in their terrorizing of communities.

Independent bookstores deserve your support. Amazon does not.

Exactly right.

Bovino's leaving? Great, get Noem to resign.

Noem resigns? Great, defund and dismantle ICE.

Go after Stephen Miller too. Bring charges against ICE thugs at the state and local level. Lawsuits. New state laws restricting them.

Every possible angle.
They are wounded and flailing. Press the advantage.

1st read of 2026: When the Wolf Comes Home by @natcassidy.bsky.social

Excellent way to kick off the year. Pleasantly surprised that it wasn't the book I thought it'd be, but instead something far more inventive and fresh, while still ghoulish fun for the horror fans. Definitely recommend.

Incredibly grateful King even agreed to read the collection, but this? We couldn't have asked for a better reaction...

When Stephen King blurbed WOLF, it felt like a dream come true. To see him say these words about I KNOW A PLACE feels like I must still be dreaming. After all, this is the guy who taught me how to write a short story, and what a collection could be. I'm just so mightily grateful. 🗝️

You know that old adage about how, when one person says it's raining and the other side says it isn't, it's the role of journalism to look out the window? The @nytimes.com is out there, every day, bravely leading the charge to reject that adage.
Is it really a “clash over the facts”?
