Definitely feels appropriate to turn the manuscript of my coming-of-age horror story over to my editor today, the 31st anniversary of my bar mitzvah.

MUCH to be done, of course. This is the rickitiest 1st draft I e’er wrot. But that's okay. As I'll tell anyone who asks for writing advice, none of the real work can begin until you've got it all out on the page. Once we get this into fighting shape, it's gonna eat you for lunch.
