SAHM / librarian / cat mom / tea addict ~ you're gonna see lots of D&D, Tolkien, and Pokemon here
a sad but very true thread (I was a children's librarian, a YA librarian, and an adult services librarian across my decade of librarianship, and the things shared in this thread were true at every age level)
I used to admin a huge Facebook page for children's librarians. I went viral for advocating that libraries support BLM. I published an oped that often gets taught in library school about how libraries aren't neutral. I published it because I saw so many kids libs+ admin carrying water for fascism.

it drives you insane how much erosion of freedom is justified by concern for kids when the people who actually hurt them will never face consequences

I'm so thrilled that The Librarians is finally available for anyone to watch. This documentary features many of the most amazing people I know, and some of the bravest, most selfless people in the world, and a dire warning about the fight they are undertaking for all of us.

Thrilled to announce my 5th (omg) graphic novel!!!

This standalone fairy tale is part an excuse to draw lots of monsters, part the agrophobia I've developed in these pandemic years, and the rest—a story of comfort that doesn't shy away from the dark 🧡🧡🧡

Context: this speech is from SIR THOMAS MORE, a history written, as near as scholars can tell, in the early 1600s by 6 or 7 people including Dekker, Heywood, Chettle, Shakespeare, and Munday.

It was never performed, because Jacobean England was a police state and it was banned by the censor.
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.
