Extremely excited to see a more active bluesky! Hi 👋 I’m an author and illustrator doing graphic novels and concept art for games!
I was planning my meals for today and realized I'm going to eat four eggs and my first thought was "In this economy??"

I watched Wong Kar Wai's english language film "My Blueberry Nights" a few days ago and even though I thought it was a middling film, I still can't stop thinking about it. It's beautifully shot, melancholic, episodic and something I think is worth a view.

Tiktok is advertising bags to me like crazy, but all of them are like "Fit your whole life in here!!" and I'm like "WHY?" that shit is heavy!! All I need is a bag that can fit my ipad and I'm good.

Help, I made my WIP for work too pretty and now I don't want to touch it because I might ruin it, but it needs actual gameplay stuff in it ;__;

"A.i." doesn't empower anyone. It strips them of belief in themselves and the power of their own minds and hands and abilities and stories.

EVERY KID CAN DRAW. EVERY KID CAN TELL STORIES AND MAKE COMICS.

Fuck "A.i." for telling kids lies and making them less-than.

Rae's advice was CENTRAL to my successful querying process. Listen to her!
OKAY

I've been slacking on re-transcribing my craft threads, so gonna bang one out today

COMMON QUERYING/WRITING MISTAKES I SEE IN THE SLUSH

(for the new chickadees around here, I've worked as a lit agency assistant for 9 years, so I have read . . . a LOT of slush. Like approx. 60,000 queries)

The promise of AI efficiency should always be followed up with “efficient for whom?” Considering that illustrators are more efficient than ever and yet wages have not increased in 80 years.

if you like making comics, take the time to write a little manifesto for yourself. who are you, the artist? what do you want to be known for? what are your priorities? what is not negotiable for you?

listen, it's been ten minutes and i'm still thinking about the low-pay "make AI comics for us" post. it was a nothing job listing from a company that has done nothing of note and should be beneath your notice. HOWEVER, it might still be helpful to notice the many ways in which it is a bad gig --

The Million Lives book fest fiasco is so interesting to me. It's like this person who organized it never even attended an event before. Not even a wedding or a high school dance. What kind of delusion would you have to keep this event going forward and not just cancelling??

Because if I wanted someone to confidently make up answers to my questions I would simply ask a man
Bit of an odd story this one - the main analysis says women don't use AI because they lack STEM skills, confidence and value in the workplace. Yet the anecdotes suggest that women excel at communication, whether writing or interpersonal, and can spot ChatGPT's flaws

Why are fewer women using AI than men?
The use of artificial intelligence appears to have a significant gender imbalance.
