Against the Storm and Blue Prince were both very interesting for similar reasons - showing that the roguelike/light loop is not actually deeply married to combat

caves of qud is and remains deeply interesting for the possibilities of procgen alongside authored content

I think the corollary that a lot of people miss about "write what you know" is that *you have the power to know more things.* Research and talking to people are a central part of writing!
“write only what you know” is bullshit because a man wrote silent hill f and this shit rocks!!!! its feminist core resonates SO strongly if you’re a woman!!!!

Hey, I bet you didn't hear that Zork 1, 2, and 3 were open-sourced today!

…Oh, you have heard. Yeah. Way ahead of me. :)

Here's my comments, and some details that you might not have seen.

Give folks their flowers

No, I mean right now. Go tell someone you loved their work right now. They're on social media just say it, it has never been easier

"They know how much people love--" no they don't go say it right now to a composer or artist or game dev or writer or anyone AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

Trans rights are not the rights of a tiny minority, trans rights are everyone’s rights to self-determination, control of our bodies, and a society where opportunity and aesthetics are not restricted by sex assigned at birth

You should support and defend trans people because trans people are people

Hello, I'm a computer programmer in a film. I'm male, and my favorite shirt is a white button-down with pens. There are lots of other programmers around, but we don't really talk. My job centers on typing very fast (green text on black) and reporting whether the hackers have broken in yet.
Hello, I'm a board game designer in a film, except most folks don't realize that's a profession so I'm shown as a toy inventor instead. I'm manically obsessive and wildly, carelessly creative, working amidst drifts of previous half-baked designs... which to be fair is accurate. Just not the toy part
Hello, I'm a historian in a film. I study ancient celebrity secrets & lost treasure. I teach at a university but that's no impediment to me rushing off to another continent on no notice. All my info comes from discovering a mysterious document or inscription, whose translation is 100% unambiguous.

I feel this in my bones.

If everybody gets tossed over because of one bad call, action, misjudgment, statement, compromise, moment of cowardice or weakness, etc etc…

Ain’t nobody left on the boat.
something I find frustrating at times is how many folks, on here or elsewhere, are willing to write people off who are pretty clearly on the same side because of one bad take

they can definitely add up to the point that it’s worth writing people off but imo too many people set the bar too low

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.
