We spoke to a dozen professional concept artists who are currently or have previously worked in game development about whether generative AI image tools have made their jobs any easier.

Zero said it did. Most said it made things harder.

Concept Artists Say Generative AI References Only Make Their Jobs Harder
“The ‘early ideation stages’, when worlds are being fleshed out by writers and artists, are literally crucial to the development of a game’s vision,” said one artist.

I do not believe in the death penalty for humans.

I do support the death penalty for corporations.

When they murder people, let's dissolve them. Break them up, destroy their technology, nationalize their assets.

I've overhauled my puzzle level generation so a level is now "grown" like cell tissue in a triangle tessellation. New elements can be inserted anywhere, and the whole level deforms to make room. This makes it easier to control topology and create paths that loops around areas.

Morning. If you're waking up to a feed full of vague "wtf" it is because the US bombed Venezuela overnight and kidnapped its president

That's where to start if you're catching up. Good luck

More than anything, just tell the creators of things you like that you Iike them! Leave comments, click like, share, all that stuff. It’s fuel for creatives.
I think a big fandom shift in interacting with stuff has gone from people commenting under the created thing whether it be fic or art to people linking it in private discord groups where the person who made it will never see any positive comments left on the thing they made.

It really delights me how the most agreed upon Kpop Demon Hunters fanon lore is that the honmoon protected us all from 2012 catastrophes because PSY powered it when he dropped Gangnam Style

Not gonna lie this is a crazy cool way to start the year hell yeah pink ranger

Also they made a site with a map of users (linked in the article), and while there aren't many pins in Toronto, you wouldn't believe where a couple of them ARE located 🙃
deleting a white supremacist dating site live onstage while dressed as the pink power ranger has got to be one of the most cathartic hacker experiences

Were 90s kids clamoring for a Batman cartoon with 1930s Art Deco aesthetics? Is that what the market demanded? Or did some really smart creative people have a vision and make a genre-defining hit that sustained 20 years of TV shows? If you want success look for vision, not just metrics.

My survival tactic is absolutely having little checkpoints to look forward to throught a year

Sure I have big overarching goals and deep motivations to keep me going, but also the new season of live action One Piece is in a few months so you know... I wanna see that
Give yourself something to look forward to next year. Something less substantial than a resolution which can carry regret if you can't stick to it. Think of a book you want to read, a genre of music you'd like to learn more about, a curiosity to chase no matter how trivial. Keep your spark lit.

People get hung up on "I don't know how to write a good review" but honestly you don't need paragraphs of analysis and observations. Don't compare yourself to a journalist. "I loved it!" or "I had fun" are equally valid reviews, AND matter just as much to the Steam algorithm to support game devs!
