For Arc Raiders to ride the wave of human sociability all the way to the bank, while also being so contemptuous of the thing that makes us social animals in its own workflow demonstrates a lack of artistic integrity that I find impossible to ignore.

Ultimately, big studios are just willing to gamble on lawsuits if it means busting a nascent union. Even if it’s obviously illegal, getting justice still means a potentially harrowing, slow, and expensive process.
BREAKING: Yesterday Grand Theft Auto VI maker Rockstar Games fired dozens of people, all of whom were involved in union efforts. A British union calls it "blatant and ruthless" union-busting. Take-Two Interactive says it was due to misconduct.

it always seemed obvious to me that narrative consultancy (and sensitivity reading more specifically) was about getting ahead of the reaction and giving you the chance to think about how unintentional choices might be received instead of waiting for the thing to come out and people hate it

Yeah, hugely disappointed by Shesez here. Sweet Baby Inc was not "designed to consult and steer more inclusion" into games. They are brought on purposefully as a second opinion on narrative by large studios. They're script doctors. There's no pressure campaign to hire them.
