What can we do to protect ourselves and our loved ones from measles? A simple blood test, usually called an "MMR titer" or "MMR immunity test" can often determine, with interpretive guidance from a competent clinician, whether you're still protected from measles. (LabCorp, Quest) Simply get another dose of MMR vaccine. If you don't want to bother with the time, trouble, and expense (and potentially unclear results) of a blood test, you could opt to skip the titer check and go directly to getting another MMR dose. The Patreon CMS ate a paragraph (they don't have bullet points fully sorted):The MMR vaccine is an attenuated (weakened) live virus vaccine. So, if you're immunocompromised, you'll have to discuss the best course of action for you with a knowledgeable clinician. They should be familiar with both you and the relevant considerations/guidance. There are exceptions, as you can see, to the 'no MMR in people who are immunocompromised' guidance, so, again, discuss with your healthcare provider. But If you're immunocompromised, getting the people around you another dose of MMR is often the best available intervention.
