So given that we are dealing with criminals and members of criminal organizations, what they mean by security is immunity from criminal prosecution. And we have seen that. They do not keep us safe, we have plenty of evidence of that, but they certainly do keep themselves safe. The US military bombed an MSF hospital. Can we investigate? No we cannot, they have bulldozed the evidence. They "tortured some folks" and they plan on torturing a lot more, but that's classified. Jeffrey Epstein is a man in the United States known to have raped and trafficked dozens or hundreds or who knows how many children. The US Attorney General at the time, Alberto Gonzales, said he would have instructed the US Justice Department to "pursue justice without making a political mess". Epstein's little black book contains people like Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew. There is only one way to interpret that directive and that is impunity for anyone above a certain social strata or anyone with blackmail on them. The Pentagon, since 2010, has refused to investigate, at that time it was over 1700 cases, of child abuse media they have found on Pentagon computers. The people in the US are finally starting to talk about all the taxpayer funded NDA's that protect people in congress against reports of rape and sexual assault. California alone has reportedly paid more than $25 million in the last three years to buy criminal impunity for their politicians. In the UK, you have your own child rape inquiry where UK police have spoken many times of investigations which have a strata they can't go above - where those above that strata are referred to as the Untouchables, protected by the Official Secrets Act and many other layers of secrecy. Your former Oxford Union president and UK Prime Minister, Ted Heath, how many people came forward and said they were his victims as children, but there was never an investigation during his lifetime.

The Epstein Files Transparency Act imposes a clear legal duty on the U.S. Department of Justice to produce the full and complete record the public demands and deserves.
However, what the Department of Justice has released so far, and the manner in which it did so, makes one thing clear: someone or something is being protected. We do not know whom, what or why. But we do know this:
We need no such protection.
Accordingly, we call on President Trump to direct Attorney General Bondi to immediately release any remaining materials referring to, mentioning, or containing a photograph of Bill Clinton.
This includes, without limitation, any records that may exist and are subject to disclosure under the Act (Public Law 119-38 enacted Nov. 19, 2025), including grand jury transcripts, interview notes, photographs, and findings by the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York (as referenced under oath to Congress by President Trump's first-term Attorney General).
Refusal to do so will confirm the widespread suspicion the Department of Justice's actions to date are not about transparency, but about insinuation - using selective releases to imply wrongdoing about individuals who have already been repeatedly cleared by the very same Department of Justice, over many years, under Presidents and Attorneys General of both parties.

As women who survived the crimes perpetrated by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, we call upon DOJ to explain to the public why they have missed a legal deadline and to explain to us or our representatives how we can privately obtain copies of all documents in DOJ possession that identify us by name.
For documents that are publicly released, careful, lawful redaction is essential.
Transparency must focus on institutional failures, enablers, financial records, and government conduct, not on further endangering survivors.
Moreover we call upon Congress to stand up for the rule of law. We urge immediate congressional oversight, including hearings, formal demands for compliance, and legal action, to ensure the Department of Justice fulfills its legal obligations.
This is not a partisan issue. Just as the Epstein Files Transparency Act was supported across party lines, we now ask elected officials from both parties to take decisive action to enforce the law, compel full compliance, and ensure meaningful transparency without further delay.
Survivors deserve truth. Survivors whose identities are private deserve protection. The public deserves accountability. And the law must be enforced.

A reminder to the individuals blaming the Epstein network victims for not releasing the names of high-profile predators. They aren't coming forward for your entertainment or political games, they are seeking justice and they deserve safety. #OpDeathEaters

searchable and
downloadable format all unclassified records, documents, commu-nications, and investigative materials in the possession of the Department of Justice, including the Federal Bureau of Investiga-
tion and United States Attorneys Offices, that relate to:
(1) Jeffrey Epstein including all investigations, prosecu-tions, or custodial matters.
(2) Ghislaine Maxwell.
(3) Flight logs or travel records, including but not limited to manifests, itineraries, pilot records, and customs or immigration documentation, for any aircraft, vessel, or vehicle owned, operated, or used by Jeffrey Epstein or any related entity.
(4) Individuals, including government officials, named or referenced in connection with Epstein's criminal activities, civil settlements, immunity or plea agreements, or investigatory pro-ceedings.
(5) Entities (corporate, nonprofit, academic, or govern-

In your article you state "Guantanamo is still open, but it's unlikely that serious torture is going on at Guantanamo." and point to inspection and the presence of defense attorneys as deterrents. I am sorry to tell you that torture, and murder, are still very much a part of Guantanamo Bay. The inspections are still severely restricted and insufficient to bring human rights and the attorneys are insufficient to bring justice. Did you miss, to name one instance, the details and cover up of the death of Adnan Latif? 167 humans still remain in Guantanamo Bay and it has been a largely frustrating and futile ten years of advocacy to try to get them returned. The second error is perhaps even more important. Many methods of torture being used in all of these prisons are the result of years, even decades, of study and are chosen both for their effectiveness and their lack of recognition as torture. We have fought for many years to get the effects of methods such as sleep deprivation, solitary confinement, stress positions, etc understood and have them recognized as torture. This is still very much an uphill battle. The last thing we need is for someone with as prominent a voice as yours to introduce a concept such as "serious torture"

I did follow the Latif case, and the reports of his torture, but my impression is that they declined a few years ago. On the rest, US prisons carry out torture constantly, and some of them, like the supermax prisons, carry out severe torture routinely. Perhaps I should have commented more fully in the interview, as I often have before, but in the comments you cite the reference was explicitly to "the more extreme forms of torture." They were doubtless carried out at Gitmo in the past, but I suspect that by now Gitmo is no more of a torture chamber than is often routine in the scandalous US incarceration system. In earlier years it was a great deal worse, really extreme forms of torture, far beyond the norm in prisons. Could and perhaps should have been said more fully.

Thanks for your comments. I understand and appreciate your points, but am not entirely convinced. Reality is that Gitmo has never been much different from US supermax's, which engage in torture as routine practice though not waterboarding and the more extreme forms of torture that take place in Bagram and Gitmo earlier. I've also written about this elsewhere, pointing out that the US never ratified the UN torture convention, but did so only after rewriting it to exclude the kinds of torture recommended by the CIA (in fact borrowed from the KGB), what's called "mental torture" in the torture literature, the kind that you mention here.

It seems to me worthwhile, and in fact empowering - especially in brief references that do not go into the matter - to point out that the protests about Gitmo led to a modification of the forms of torture to the kind that's normal in prisons, and more generally to distinguish between waterboarding, electrodes to the genitals, and other such torture procedures, and the "mental torture" that is permitted under US law, and is more harmful to the individual (which is why it's permitted).
