There is only one group of people here instigating violence and escalating the situation: the federal agents. They are the people whose behavior needs policing right now.

I take issue with any assertion that it is the people of my neighborhood, the people of this city, who are in any way responsible for the escalation we are seeing in the streets.

I also call on Governor Walz to institute an eviction moratorium for as long as our state is occupied, and put his focus towards protecting our communities — not deploying even more force against observers and protesters.

Federal agents have shot people in Minneapolis every week for the last 3 — killing 2. DHS/Trump admin have told increasingly brazen lies about each. Community here are more defiant, righteously angry than ever. Federal govt continues to be run by violent dipshit internet trolls.

Tonight, my Minneapolis neighborhood gathered on street corners and in our local park to mourn Alex Pretti.

This is our FOURTH vigil in eight months. No community should have to go through what we're going through.

This is Minneapolis.

Literally every corner along Lake St. packed with people holding candles, many singing, honoring a person who by all accounts was an absolute gem of a human, whose life was tragically stolen by a fascist, paramilitary occupation force.

“DHS is not above the law, and Alex sure as hell is not beneath it.”

Thank you AG Ellison
Tonight, on behalf of Minnesota law enforcement, I filed a lawsuit against DHS to prevent the destruction of evidence related to the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti.

DHS is not above the law, and Alex sure as hell is not beneath it.

“Beef up training?” Are you fucking kidding? Why are Democrats like this?
We should not fund DHS without serious reform. We could return CBP to border. We could require warrants for immigration arrests. We could beef up training and require identification.

The list of possible reforms is long. What's unacceptable is the current lawless status quo.

We are observers, not protestors. We show up to document and film the atrocities ICE is committing. Using 5 year olds as bait. Kidnapping senior citizens. Breaking down doors without warrants. Murdering poets and nurses. Media has all of that information because *observers* were there to document it

This is in addition to the huge gatherings at the site of his killing and at the nearest intersection (26th and Nicollet). Three gatherings within a few blocks.

Yes. Again, witnesses of the shooting in North Minneapolis say the officers shot a man who was retreating into his a home. But there’s no video, so their ludicrous story about being attacked with a snow shovel is still the prevailing narrative.
Imagine how much they’d be lying about what happened without all the videos showing it from multiple angles.
