I'm committed to partnering with advocates to create a responsible path forward for the industry federally, similar to what has been done here in MN, in order to support MN consumers, small businesses, and farmers.

Great news: we have secured a temporary pause to Trump’s latest assault on the most vulnerable Minnesota families.

My team and I will be in court working to permanently block Trump’s illegal and deeply cruel actions.

The @hennepinatty.bsky.social and my office have an interest as state prosecutors in fairness and transparency. To the degree possible, we want to set forth a process about which fair-minded people can say when it’s over, “as good and just of a job that could be done was done."

I will not allow that to happen, so today I am filing a lawsuit to halt these cuts and protect families across Minnesota from Trump’s heartless attack on low-income families.
Attorney General Ellison sues Trump Administration to protect billions of dollars for childcare and support for vulnerable families
Trump Administration has announced $10 billion in cuts to critical support for families in five states

This latest front in Donald Trump's war on Minnesotans is as cruel as it is unlawful. Without childcare assistance, poor families will be forced to choose between parents going to work and paying their bills or staying home to provide childcare during their working hours.

Regardless, I am pleased to have won this fight against the Trump Administration’s shortsighted attack on Minnesota’s pioneering medical research, and I will continue fighting to protect our state from this lawless and cruel administration.

I cannot fathom why the Trump Administration would try to cut hundreds of millions of dollars from our world-class institutions like the University of Minnesota and Mayo Clinic.
January 6, 2026 at 9:07 PM
The cutting-edge medical and public health research done in Minnesota has saved and improved countless lives. Minnesota is widely recognized as a national leader in conducting medical research, and that’s a tremendous point of pride for our state.

It's appalling that the defendant founded and used a nonprofit to serve his own personal interests, instead of the people of Minnesota.

My office launched this investigation and filed this lawsuit because I will not allow nonprofits to serve as a guise for nonprofit leaders to enrich themselves.

The Trump admin is trying to take food off the tables of hungry children and families across Minnesota, all to score cheap political points.

I will not allow that, which is why I’m asking the courts to block this blatantly illegal action from the Trump administration.

I want to say especially clearly to healthcare providers that Secretary Kennedy’s so-called ‘declaration’ and the threats he has made to them also have no basis in law. You should continue to care for patients without discrimination and leave the federal government to us.
December 24, 2025 at 3:10 PM
No one wants this highly political federal government or RFK Jr. interfering in their most personal medical decisions — particularly not when this so-called ‘declaration’ reinforces a bad faith mischaracterization of the kinds of care available to minors.
December 24, 2025 at 3:10 PM
I’ve said it before and I’ll said it again: Gender-affirming care is healthcare, period. It is evidence-based, backed by the American Medical Association, and helps trans individuals live their lives with the dignity we all deserve. Gender-affirming care saves lives.

Once again, the Trump Administration is threatening to let the needy go hungry.

Donald Trump is doing whatever he can to keep vulnerable people hungry and scheming new ways to punish the states that want to keep them fed.

No one should be taken advantage of because they miss their family. But that’s what these defendants did.

I filed this lawsuit so no one else is harmed or defrauded into giving up their savings, because someone saw people’s love of their families as a way to scam hard-working Minnesotans.

I have strongly supported the CFPB, as both AG and a member of Congress and I don’t intend to stop. Attorneys general have broad powers in state and federal law to protect consumers, and I will use all the tools available to me to protect Minnesotans from financial harm.

If anyone asks you to send them money via a cryptocurrency ATM, it is extremely likely you are talking to a scammer. And a government agency will never ask you to pay for anything through a cryptocurrency ATM. I highly recommend avoiding cryptocurrency ATMs entirely.
December 22, 2025 at 5:58 PM
The spread of Cryptocurrency ATMs has me extremely concerned. While these ATMs are not scams themselves, many scammers trick their targets into sending money via cryptocurrency ATM because those transactions are virtually impossible to trace.
