Dad, lawyer for the good guys, and person for the world's silliest greyhound. In the prisoner's dilemma, I always choose cooperation.

I've had this song running in my head since January 20, 2025.

I'll unpin this post when that's no longer true.

A key challenge, and a huge source of the disconnect between Silicon Valley and the other creative industries is that, for coders, AI eliminates the drudgery so they can focus on the creative/expressive part. In every other creative discipline, it has the exact opposite effect.

I think devs who (rightfully) see their work as creative, see LLMs smoothing tedious junk away, but don't realize in other creative fields there's less of that drudgery to begin with, and most of it has long since been automated without LLMs. No one is manually managing footnotes (I hope).

I love that he loves his job and his city and people generally. Doing good things for people feels like a reasonable bar for electeds …
Everyone in the world comes to get married at the NYC Marriage Bureau. Last week, the Mayor stopped by to officiate a few of those ceremonies.

Thank you to all the couples who shared their joy with us. Happy Valentine's Day, New York.

For today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme of #Portrait (a portrait capture of any bird) I'll share this photo of a Herring Gull from a session where it gave me pose after pose like it was a trained model.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #DivingForFood (birds that dive under water for food). I managed to catch this Ring-necked Duck just as she popped up to the surface from a dive. I love that there is still a sheen of water on her back.

There’s a section of the populist left that wants to win internal Democratic Party fights by calling their factional opponents the “Epstein class,” and it just seems really obvious that the populist right is going to hear that as “the Jews” with some very bad results.
Current state of things: One Fox News host casually declares that Epstein’s money comes from “Jewish billionaires” and a “Jewish banking family,” another responds that he was a “sex rabbi.” www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/jes...

New documents filed in a key refugee case in Minnesota shed light on a broad, aggressive plan to review all refugees admitted since the start of the Biden administration.
