Lots of good discussion in the other replies, and thread quoted above. Been years since writing code was a meaningful part of my work, and this helped click in for me why coding differs from other types of expressive work in ways LLMs can meaningfully make the experience of creating better.
This conversation clicked for me that in coding, there are a lot of expressive choices you have to teach yourself don't matter, and repetitiveness can be *good*. In creative writing, all the ways to communicate "He said, 'sure thing'" communicate it differently, and choosing is part or the craft.

Please reshare the below post, unfortunately some accounts with lots of followers have reposted the false claim and loads of people are falling for it.
I'm seeing people mistakenly claim the gun photo was posted before today, but its just how Google sometimes dates images based on the original date of the thread its posted in, not when it was posted. The photo was posted an hour ago in this 5 day old thread

I can see why some people might think that Machado giving her Nobel Peace Prize to Trump would embarrass the Nobel committee. But any organization that would give a peace prize to Henry Kissinger is probably immune to embarrassment.

I'm positive I've seen this one six times. Almost entirely positive, let me count them out...

As we are now T minus 3.5 days from Thanksgiving, if you need to deploy Operation Avoid The Boundary Tramplers, tonight is when you post where they snoop about a headache or a queasy kid, or a funny noise from your car, or your pet acting strange, or a serious work issue or an unexpected paper.

This framing makes me so angry. I'm upset the Dem caucus caved, but if we went through this in an earnest attempt to keep healthcare less ruinously expensive, I can at least be glad they tried.

If they never thought it could work, and the pain and uncertainty was *messaging*? That's just monstrous.
Now for some levity and logic based in facts.

As a non-lawyer, I am really curious how, if at all, it affects Fair Use analysis when OpenAI giving an opt-out for copyright holders.

I imagine it certainly could affect willfullness analysis, although I guess they'll say the opt out shows it isn't reckless disregard?
OpenAI claims companies must opt-out of having their copyrighted characters & content appear in Sora

Legal experts say studios have grounds to sue:

“They’re setting up this false bargain where they can do this unless you opt out. And if you don’t, it’s your fault. That’s not the way the law works"

The most frustrating thing to me honestly isn't even the "hope GOP comes to their senses" bit. It's the uselessness of what he wants them to do!

It'a that the action he is asking for r help with is legislation... but there *are* existint laws that Trump is violating willfully!
Asked what he would do to stop the deployment of federal troops to Portland, Chuck Schumer replies: "I'd hope some of them [Republicans] would join us in legislation to prevent it from happening."

"I know they're loyal to Trump and does whatever he wants but this is so far stepping over the line"

Fucking aye.

Friendly reminder that some people have life threatening anaphylaxis reactions to NSAIDs (i.e., aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen) making acetaminophen the only OTC pain killer that won't send them to the ER.

Last time I took an aspirin, ER and four epinephrine shots barely kept me alive.
