The thing about Trump saying it’s fine for Mamdani to call him a fascist is that he genuinely thinks all of this is kayfabe, just as he could insult Rubio or Cruz but still work with them. It’s not possible for him to imagine other people being sincere about anything.

I think about Contrapoints noting how some leftists don’t want power, they want to critique power on an almost daily basis
every time I see a post by Ms Sawant about revolution I think about how she quit a position on the city council to do a podcast

i love how bsky posters are so eager to appear worldly and wise that they'll jump to say "AND YOU'RE SURPRISED????" to the craziest shit that's ever happened. if bluesky existed on 9/11/01 you fucking bet these people would out here with "obviously, everyone with a brain cell could see this coming"
does mamdani smell really good in person or something. like he seems very charming yes but what the fuck lol

TRUMP [after spending 5 minutes with Zohran]: surplus value, it’s a very wonderful thing, very wonderful, and they’re stealing it. Can you believe that?

We’re going to be looking very strongly at the bourgeoisie, what they’re up to

The deranged response to this makes me despair. There are so many educated, politically engaged people who are averse to thinking systematically. If you support LGBTQ rights, it is better, all else being equal, for the state to also support them.
I hate this sort of meme.

“The only difference between the parties is whether the power to destroy human civilization rests in the hands of leaders who think gays, women, and black people should have their rights acknowledged.”

Even if true, how is Rainbow B-52 not infinitely preferable?

The US accidentally invaded Mexico on Monday, storming a beach and planting DoD “restricted area” signs claiming the land for “the commander,” triggering a standoff w/ armed Mexican security forces, all because Trump’s government can’t even identify a border on a map

Warning signs appear on Mexican beach declaring area restricted by U.S. as Mexico rejects Trump offer to strike cartels
The signs read in English and Spanish, "Warning: Restricted Area," and had been declared restricted by "the commander."

1. Absolutely the dumbest thing to do and shows that folks like Schumer — and there are people like him on both sides — know absolutely nothing about this moment and are not equipped to handle it.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I think LA has always just conceived of itself differently (and as self-consciously not a place like NYC or Chicago). A lot of LA progressives seem to hold to the idea that progress means a society that’s sufficiently equal that everyone can afford a SFH and a car, a nonsensical idea in say NYC.

fwiw the R vote share in this poll is consistent with consensus.

The difference between this poll and other polls is that they pushed leaners and leaners essentially all broke Dem.

that doesn’t seem all that unrealistic to me right now

MGP is absolutely right on the merits to censor Garcia and Dems should be wholly on board

Anti-corruption is supposed to be a core part of the Democratic message going forward, and Garcia committed an act of blatant corruption. Not backing her on this is rank hypocrisy.

Democrats need to watch this guy's feed and study it. Deeply.

The editing, the content, the questions he asks. He highlights everything about immigrants that Americans support and can identify with as individuals. It's positive and makes people feel patriotic.

It makes the Nazis look ridiculous.

This is entirely replicable in an American city at any moment we care to do so.
“Helsinki hasn’t registered a single traffic-related fatality in the past year…Citing data that shows the risk of pedestrian fatality is cut in half by reducing a car’s speed from 40 to 30km/hr, city officials imposed the lower limit in most of Helsinki’s residential areas & city center in 2021.”
Helsinki just went a full year without a single traffic death
The capital city is Finnish’ed with car-related fatalities.
