Quite funny that Starmer's allies are waking up to this point now …

Cuts to Winter Fuel… not in the manifesto
Disability benefit cuts… not in there either
Cutting jury trials… also not there
Digital ID… no mention
Raising employers NI… nope
Freezing tax threholds… nah
Contracts with Palantir… no

I’m not sure ‘our national security developed vetting technique can be beaten if a candidate is prepared to lie’ is an especially helpful line to push.

for some reason all the techbros have been talking about building Dyson Spheres all of a sudden and to be clear: we are so comedically far from being able to build a dyson sphere that they may as well be promising magic. we are MILLENIA away from building dyson spheres

From what I have seen online so far, the universal response to Donald Trump instantly describing a potential assassination attempt on one of his political critics as staged was taken by basically everyone as another indication that at least one of the alleged attempts against *him* was staged by him
President Donald Trump blasted Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar when questioned about the attack she suffered during a town hall event in Minneapolis on Tuesday night.

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

The thing about Carney is, and it sounds simplistic, but *he gets it*.
The rules-based international order as we've known it all our life is dead. We can't start to build anything new until we've collectively accepted that and he's the only mainstream politician who has.
Lots of positivity about Carney's speech at Davos. This is what happens when you have serious, qualified, individuals in charge. This needs to be a general awakening. There needs to be a concerted movement away from the Poilievres, Farages, Badenochs, & pretty much 95% of USA politicians

I like that the same day a guy was like “this place will never be Twitter” this thread gave us the most 2015 Twitter experience (complimentary) imaginable.
I just woke up from a nap and somehow while I was asleep, everyone on the bus has figured out we are not going to the right place

I understand the pressures on the BBC, but Radio 4's coverage of the Minneapolis shooting is an example of "bad balance".

It's all "the Trump regime says she was a terrorist, but Democrats say it was murder".

The BBC has the footage. It doesn't have to treat truth and falsehood as equally valid.

You don't ask if they'll still use it, you ask them *why* they're using a platform that they *know* generates ILLEGAL indecent images of children. You don't let them handwave it away with some vague shit about maybe reviewing it and then move on. Jesus fucking Christ our journalists suck ass.
Keir Starmer's spokesman asked if Government will still use X now it posts indecent images of children, replies "we always keep communication channels under review to reach public in most appropriate way possible”

"Operators are under obligation to act appropriately. We always hope they would do"
