what if there was a great 2028 presidential candidate who literally every interest group agreed with who we needed, who was somehow beloved by all sides of the Israel/Palestine conflict, was intensely charismatic and eligible to be President, but their name was something like “John Fuckfish”

porn magazines' fiction sections were, however, a genuinely important vehicle for supporting genre authors. basically all the people who ran them seem to have been nerds
Trumpsters claiming they voted for his economic policies remind me of when men would claim they read Playboy for the articles.

A moment that will stick with me forever is that I was thrift shopping with a friend, and she looks at the clothes and says “look at all the different people you could be.” At the time I was like “Ha!” and then every time I think about it since I’m like “Was she right? Is it good if she was?”
Yearly reminder that you CAN just become a different person, you're not as imprisoned in your life as you think. You can just be the one who dresses nice or exercises or reads a lot, or whatever. You can just start doing it, some people might make fun of you but they don't really care.

An essential development over the past decade-plus is that the ignorant went from feeling chastened when their ignorance was revealed to banding together and deciding that, actually, they were right. They might disagree at times, but they agreed that ignorance itself was an indicator of trust.

If I am in the bathroom with you, I HAVE NO IDEA WHETHER OR NOT YOU HAVE A DICK BECAUSE I AM MOST DEFINITELY NOT LOOKING. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

And let's assume you're in a stall. WHAT YOU DO IN THAT STALL IS YOUR BUSINESS, NOT MINE. What sicko would think otherwise?

a realization you have pretty quickly as a trans person is that nobody likes being in the bathroom and that everyone is trying their hardest not to notice the other people in there

there have been multiple stories of middle school girls getting harassed with generated CP of themselves over the past few years and somehow the only AI fear that seems to stick is the fucking water

if i was more conspiratorial i'd think it's a psyop
It’s the most powerful online sexual harassment tool ever invented and it’s driving people insane with parasocial relationships but the most prominent critics lie about water use.
"And I never say no"

We need to have a serious talk about the way "AI companion" apps not only prey on the vulnerable, but are priming their users to ignore consent and to conflate love with control.

We need AI regulations across so many sectors, but this area is particularly horrifying.

All pets fall into one of two categories: faithful companion or weird little guy.

Cats? Weird little guy.
Dogs? Faithful companion (except very small dogs)
Rats? Faithful companion.
Hamsters? Weird little guy.
Parrots? Weird little guy.
Horses? Faithful companion.

I think people want these things to be about community connections but if that's the goal, join a pickleball league. "Everyone has food" shouldn't be a fun community activity you can drop in and out of, it should be a "you pay taxes, it gets done, you never have to think about it" thing.

Guys I know you’re all going to yell at me here but mutual aid is not meaningfully distinct from the kind of privatized community charity system where poor people go to the church and hope someone has donated a hot meal. It’s not progressive, it’s not effective, it’s not good service provision.
"poor enough to need mutual aid"

Everyone needs mutual aid.
The reality is that very poor people - like, poor enough to need mutual aid - usually have an exceptionally low turnout in a midterm primary. They’re busy surviving! If you’re in a district that has a lot higher-income voters, they’ll probably be disproportionately represented in such a primary.
