A year ago, we were on the cusp of turning many cancers into chronic rather than terminal diseases through immunotherapy and mRNA vaccines. Today, we're working through the curative qualities of a magical horse paste instead.

And we don’t have to guess what they mean, because we can read Project 2025 ourselves and see that “pornography” is shorthand for LGBTQ people existing publicly. That’s what they’re working to ban, censor, and restrict online under the guise of “protecting” kids from porn

When a sitting representative refers to the Super Bowl halftime show as “pornography,” people should use that to reflect on how they and other representatives are simultaneously working to ban, censor, and restrict “pornography” and what that actually means

Today in 1968, President Lyndon Johnson’s national security adviser, Walt Rostow, warned him about FRACTURE JAW, a top secret operation authorized by General William Westmoreland to transport nuclear weapons to South Vietnam and prepare to use them to prevent a possible US defeat at Khe Sanh.

hmm, I think I remembered wrong and libc.so.4 was actually the last a.out one
February 10, 2026 at 2:56 PM
that's why glibc installs itself as libc.so.6; libc.so.5 was the last a.out libc for linux
February 10, 2026 at 2:55 PM
it went with adopting glibc, which had the new ELF dynamic linker (the kernel only knows how to load static ELF binaries or pass control to the interpreter named in the ELF program header, usually ld-linux.so)

...and dire warnings that the wrong timing just might kill your fixed-frequency monitor
February 10, 2026 at 2:52 PM
(the old a.out dynamic linker didn't know how to relocate and so shared libraries had to be linked to nonconflicting addresses kept in a registry in the old days)
February 10, 2026 at 2:49 PM
they removed the last support from kernel 5.19; the switchover I'm thinking of was back in the 1.2 series IIRC, which was roughly when Linux got shared libraries that worked
