Unless they can show you an XZ Utils style provably present backdoor, any claims that such a thing exists in an open source codebase should not only be dismissed but also make you roll your eyes and probably disregard any further opinions that person might have on the subject.
all the talk about backdoors is bullshit
besides, the code has been audited many times by third parties. it's probably some of the most scrutinized code in the world, given how much money hinges on it

to me the way the symbolism of this resonates feels like a symptom of a culture that can't imagine future and big things that aren't bad, that feels alienated from how the world it exists in works, so it's left with escapism into images that feel familiar and therefore non-threatening

Ed Zitron is a hack conman with no principles who takes people's money to podcast at them about how righteous their indignant rage at Tech™️ is and if you take him at all seriously I don't think you're a serious person worth listening to.
Also reminder to all more or less reasonable anti-AI people that you can't take and would be well advised to no longer take Ed Zitron seriously because he is a mere opportunist who will do anything to get money be it parroting anti-AI stuff or be it doing PR for AI companies (archive.vn/m9pHl).
