claude sometimes does this batshit thing where it uses a constant's magic number and then comments the constant name after, just to let u know it does it intentionally

in roughly two days i have, with Claude, vibe coded a working Vulkan rendering backend for the open source Freespace 2 port, fs2open. i wanted to see if Claude code could do something more complex than python-rust ports and note-taking apps

i was just reminded of this, i wonder if anyone has tried to make claude code build better tools for itself

this might be one area for potential recursive self-improvement
prototyping a simple yet sensible harness:

graphql for model to explore codebase

read tool that gives the entire file to the model, giving partials is utter nonsense

before they start working the harness immediately places them in a git branch

i mean, nothing in the base proposition of the bitcoin system or its working changed. nor how necessary a neutral censorship-resistant money is in this world
What comes up must come down, that one 4chan post fr was right about the top in 2025.

see you in like, 3 years if the cycle holds when bitcoin's at $250k-ish, i'd bet :D

thank god for stables right now lol
today has been an amazing day for refreshing webpages

I have selected some representative editions from my current project (which I will be showing at the Umbralles digitales exhibition). Most are unique editions except for one open edition. They will be available on @objkt.com on January 15 at 6 p.m. (CET/GMT+1).

Adding a fiber link to my home network
Motivation Despite using a FTTH internet connection since 2014, aside from the one fiber uplink, I had always used network gear with 1 Gbit/s links over regular old rj45 cat5(e) cables. I liked the si...

Unless they can show you an XZ Utils style provably present backdoor, any claims that such a thing exists in an open source codebase should not only be dismissed but also make you roll your eyes and probably disregard any further opinions that person might have on the subject.
all the talk about backdoors is bullshit

besides, the code has been audited many times by third parties. it's probably some of the most scrutinized code in the world, given how much money hinges on it

it's a complete nothingburger. but people love their drama so much

funny how people will just grab the worst takes from twitter and instantly believe them as true here, making it a second-grade gossip echo chamber
for what it's worth

MIT DCI's funders never had anything to say over bitcoin's course of development. all grants were no-strings-attached to preserve dev neutrality. it is also only one of the organizations for funding development, one which had many funders

i wasn't able to post during the day at #fosdem, because the bluesky app logged me out *sigh*

the @radicle.xyz talk was real good! it's impressive how much progress they made since last time i looked at the project, and are still making. it's much nearer to being usable by real projects

TIL audacity is actually a good audio application if you install it from debian's packages directly, instead of using the appimage (which has weird scaling and has unreadable font color on my system)

to me the way the symbolism of this resonates feels like a symptom of a culture that can't imagine future and big things that aren't bad, that feels alienated from how the world it exists in works, so it's left with escapism into images that feel familiar and therefore non-threatening

aside, something cynical i’ve noticed is how often it’s the most vulnerable who are roped into these extreme anti-[new tech] perspectives,
and so discouraged from looking, even critically, at the thing at all
which prevents them from benefiting from having early adopter knowledge
Ed Zitron is a hack conman with no principles who takes people's money to podcast at them about how righteous their indignant rage at Tech™️ is and if you take him at all seriously I don't think you're a serious person worth listening to.
Also reminder to all more or less reasonable anti-AI people that you can't take and would be well advised to no longer take Ed Zitron seriously because he is a mere opportunist who will do anything to get money be it parroting anti-AI stuff or be it doing PR for AI companies (archive.vn/m9pHl).
