Armchair Critic #1: "Ukraine needs to be urgently pulling its forces out of the Poprovsk front so they don't get encircled!"

Armchair Critic #2: "Ukraine has too few troops per kilometer at the Poprovsk front at present!"

Sigh....
🙏🇺🇦 "The forces are exhausted": Pokrovsk on the verge of a critical shortage of Ukrainian soldiers, - FT

Experts note the critically low density of Ukrainian forces. The average calculation is only 4-7 infantrymen per kilometer of the front. At the same time, problem of desertion has also worsened.

I'm reliably informed that if humans have been doing something for eons (such as eating smoked meat) that it can't have negative health consequences.
Excuse me, BRB, I need to smoke a bunch of tobacco, opium too, chew some betel, and khat, drink a bunch of alcohol, sweeten said alcohol with lead, colour my food with arsenic, take some birthwort from my asbestos pot, clean myself with non-purified talc, eat ergot-contaminated...

All right, I've got it everybody: if it's AI, it's bad; if there's AI doing something good; it's not AI.

Holy shit. This company claims it has developed an air-source heat pump with a COP of *7* (3-5 is considered good). For you non-nerds, that basically means it produces 7 units of heat for every unit of electricity it consumes. How are they doing it? You're not gonna like this answer, but: it's AI.

You can load a cake up with sugar and that doesn't make it ultraprocessed, because sugar is a "traditional" ingredient. But if you sweeten it with *fruit juice concentrate*, all of the sudden, it's ultraprocessed. Which is *entirely backwards*.

It's such a stupid category scheme.

The category of "ultra-processed foods" is akin to declaring categorically "Liquids Are Bad", because if you list all the potable liquids, the average of the group is bad, because things like alcohol and sugary drinks outnumber, say, water. It's technically true but functionally absurd.

One thing I commonly use LLMs for is finding the words for things that I don't know / can't remember.

Unrelated, I also hate those "quadrant" political-ideology graphs, as politics is way more complex than that.

I decided to combine these two: having a LLM generate a freeform political quiz...

The shareholder questions at the Tesla meeting are so cringe. The last guy introduced himself and the whole audience as "Tesla's soldiers, or I should say, Elon Musk's soldiers!". The current questioner seems to be implying that he thinks Elon is prophetic.

What’s the problem? We’re just displaying a historical fact that this person is a Jew by forcing them to wear a yellow star.
I spit on the reputation of the U.S. Supreme Court, not that it can get much more degraded than it has already become by the repulsive actions of its disgusting GOP members.

You can hear the transphobic sneer in these words.

So, kinda unsurprising, and not good news, but here's the results of the Tesla shareholder meeting vote:

Board proposals:

Proposal 1: Election of directors

All three (who have done nothing to check Elon's power) were reelected.

Watching the Tesla shareholder meeting. Denholm seems pretty upbeat. If she knows the numbers, then that's bad news, and Elon probably got what he wants.

But I'll wait for the actual numbers.

Nice choice of plane, and nice choice of paint scheme on it :)
To get the first half of our vacuum vessel from Italy to the USA, we flew it on an Antonov An-124 Ruslan aircraft, an unusual 4-engine cargo plane with room for the 48-ton component. Unlike passenger planes, the nose of the An-124 hinges upward to load and unload cargo.

Even better, using options you can not only own Tesla shares to vote against Elon, *and* have a bet Tesla being overvalued, to still profit on declines), *and* actually get much *more* voting power than a person who doesn't have a net short position.

Here's an example with no risk from TSLA rising:
