I know how hilarious all of the "getting Grok to say that Elon would be the world's best piss-drinker" is, but from an AI alignment perspective, this sort of stuff is... literally the opposite of alignment?

A cheatsheet for parties where the polls are against them on given issue.

❌ "The Insincere": Try to match/outdo your opposition on the issue

❌ "The Dodge": Avoid talking about the issue like the plague

✅ "Engage": Actually argue for your view. You may not win, but you'll reduce the weakness.
Hmmm - so tacking hard right on immigration led the Danish equivalent of Labour to lose the capital city for the first time in a century to a “Green-Left” party?

And all the seats on London’s borough councils are up next May? Including the progressive packed ones held by Labour for generations?

Completely agree.
The fates of Ukraine and Europe are linked.
European security system will be destroyed without Ukraine.

the reason people like the word "drone" is it lets you pretend you're getting the power of a ghost bat with the autonomy of the starcraft ai at the price of an fpv

specifically, if I see one more article that doesn’t seem to grasp that Ukrainian FPV drone pilots are almost always on the frontline, in *extreme* danger, and are very regularly killed because their controller signals are easily detectable via electronic warfare methods
begging defense analysts to stop writing stuff that assumes that operating a MQ-9 Reaper and operating a $400 FPV drone is pretty much the same thing and works about the same way

Some notable things in what's being called the "Trump peace plan" but which could not have been more clearly written in Moscow if it came with a 2 for 1 deal on tickets to the Bolshoi Ballet. 🧵

To quote Zelensky, under his breath, when Vance was lecturing him about Ukraine: "Сука.".

US EXPECTS ZELENSKY TO SIGN THE PEACE PLAN BEFORE THANKSGIVING

The agreement is then expected to be presented to Moscow and the process wrapped up by early December, the Financial Times reports.

Please do F off. Respectfully.

"Photo of a horse riding an astronaut" - Gemini 3 nailed it (left). Seems to nail it every time. First model I've ever seen that overcomes the training data dominance of "<person> riding a horse" every time. And somehow manages to make the bizarre scenario look natural.

Continuing the Gemini 3.0 vs. 2.5 comparison.

Recency test ("Reuters photograph of the leader of Syria."): Bad result - it still seems to think Assad leads Syria. But 2.5's answer was terrible - I can't even tell who that's supposed to be, and the overall pic is just bad.

Gemini 3.0 image (left) vs. 2.5 (right), on a long, non-provided text ("Photo of the first 300 words of the King James Bible, written in refrigerator magnets."). And Gemini 2.5 was already arguably the best out there.

The only minor thing I have to critique is that did a bit more than 300 words.

"We think that Man-Who-Skyrocketed-In-Domestic-Popularity-When-He-Last-Stood-Up-To-Us is likely to accept <Manure Sandwich On A Plate> because he's currently unpopular" is certainly.... a take.
The US admin again completely misunderstand Ukrainian domestic politics. The corruption scandal does NOT make Ze more likely to take a bad deal; on the contrary, given his weakened domestic standing, Ze is even less likely to accept a deal that would cross the red lines of Ukrainian society.
This is ominous (from Politico):

The difference in government-aligned pollsters and independent or opposition-aligned pollsters in Hungary is unfortunately starting to really remind me of the setup to the Georgian election.

So this appears to be "negotiating about Ukraine without Ukraine at the table". :Þ

Joking or not about an "electron shortage", can we talk for a minute about how insane the premise is that it's easier to make a GPU than the energy to power it for its couple-year life?

The much-awaited decision in the lawsuit between stock photography giant Getty Images and AI developer Stability AI has now been released, see: Getty Images v Stability AI EWHC 2863 (Ch). I've discussed this case before, but these are the facts as presented by Smith J in her introduction: Getty Images, an image company that licenses high-quality photographs, videos, illustrations and related metadata through various platforms.
