SHARE A GREAT FEMALE VILLAIN

If we're allowed to pitch our own, I'm putting forth Malatrice from The Ink Witch! When I saw she took up most of the cover I knew she wouldn't want it any other way.

I tend to forget that feeds other than 'Following' exist, honestly. I have a few others for specific topics but I rarely look at them, and when I do they often have irrelevant stuff dragged in just because a keyword was mentioned.
What feed do you look at most on here?

For all that people talk about wanting to avoid algorithmically-curated feeds, the (pareto) pattern of engagement I see seems to bely that.

My hunch is that most people spend most of their time on feeds like Popular With Friends or Discover.

My favorite thing about Frog and Toad is that it is the story of two men deeply and obviously in love with one another, drawn as a tribute to his lifelong partner by a gay man long before their relationship was socially sanctioned.
Then Frog and Toad went out onto the front porch to wait for the mail.

They sat there, feeling happy together.

Apparently I'm doing this -- my open letter to that open latter about AI in writing and publishing. I emerged from Hibernation Week to write it, so god only knows how much sense it makes. But at least a human wrote it, so that's nice.

I used to be annoyed by people who couldn't even use email, but now they're role models. These people were shown some new bullcrap and told "you MUST use this, it's INEVITABLE", and they said, the hell with that, I will make this someone else's problem until the day I die. Inspirational, these days.

Apparently Anaconda is getting mediocre reviews but don't you believe it, we all practically died laughing here. If you don't want a horror-comedy that's deeply and intentionally silly, I can't help you, but if you do want that it's AMAZING.

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

Apparently they did a holiday horror story about Supergirl's goofy Silver Age robot stand-in and I am HERE FOR THAT.
Time for a thread of this year's holiday-themed comics. First up SUPERGIRL #8, a series that has been a delight this year. Sophie Campbell's writing is joyful, Haining's art is lively and fun, and we get a meaning-of-Christmas story that nevertheless avoids being saccharine or twee.

Jesse Hamm had the take to end all takes on children's media. "People who disdain writing ‘just for children’ fail to realize that those children will remember what they read, maybe for the rest of their lives. You’re not writing for permanent children; you’re getting an early start on adults.”

I've been using Word because I get it free through work and I share docs around so it's easier if I know they're 100% compatible with others. But congrats, Microsoft, today's the day I finally got so sick of figuring out how to scrape Copilot crap out of everything that you drove me to Libreoffice.
