Lots of discourse criticizing what people are or are not posting about right now. Here's a gentle reminder that posting on social media is not activism. You have no idea what someone is doing to support their community offline. Donate. Volunteer. Worry less about someone's PERFORMANCE of activism.

Books don't tell readers who they personally are or who they are supposed to be. They do show readers a variety of characters. Implicit in that is this: "Here are some ways of being." Kids books aren't altering your kid to be someone new. They are simply showing them parts of humanity.

I haven’t (and most likely won’t) watch the recently released video but I swear I can hear that “fucking bitch” in my head clear as day. The snarling hate and disgust. Every woman has heard it.

In America you drop your kid off at school, get your brains blown out on the ride home, then the Vice President drops everything for a week to call you a terrorist, to slander your family, to protect the circumstances that led to your death so they can do it again. It is government by Alex Jones.

Rep. @AOC: I understand that Vance believes shooting a young mother of three in the face three times is an acceptable America that he wants to live in, and I do not. That is a fundamental difference between Vance and I. I do not believe that the American people should be assassinated in the street.

It's understandable if you're in pain right now.

Know that you're not alone. And that others want to be there for you. Please let them, even if it's a stranger.

They can't make us stop caring for each other.

ICE killed a Black man, Keith Porter, 7 days before Renee Good, and I hadn't heard about it until today. His vigils went unnoticed. His life came and gone and America forgot to blink.

Two Americas.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but cops are not allowed to shoot people just because you didn't do what they said.

That is called murder when they do that.

Some cops are working hard to convince people otherwise.

One day, the bad man will die. Not because of anyone's actions, but because he is mortal, and all mortal beings must die someday. And when that happens, he will be unmissed, unmourned, unloved, unremembered. I take comfort in this.

I don't care if she didn't follow directions; I don't care if she was disrespectful; I don't care if she was noncompliant; I don't care if she spit in his face, called him ugly, and smacked his mom - "immediate execution by the state" was not warranted; jfc, this isn't complicated.
losing my mind at the "she should have followed directions" people

really? really? you're cool with "if you don't follow directions, they get to kill you"? that seems like a good state of affairs to you? that seems like how law enforcement ought to work: instant obeisance or death?

ICE just murdered a woman here in Minneapolis. A legal observer. Shot her multiple times while she drove away as ordered. She was a US citizen.

Absolute, unequivocal, cold-blooded murder by Trump’s gestapo.

Abolish ICE, jail for everyone in charge. This is the lowest bar we accept now.

Still thinking about the Murder, She Wrote episode we watched last night where they misspelled both Ottawa and 'inquiry' on two different prop newspapers. That said, it's hard too be too upset about any episode that features one of our national treasures, Graham Greene.

My favorite part of reading is when a book gets so good you have to set it down, (finger marking the page), and just let your mind be blown for a minute before picking it back up again.

I just called David LaGrand, mayor of Grand Rapids, expressing HORROR at this arrest. I'm also emailing

@indivisible.org pls alert all Michigan Indivisibles to take action.

Everyone call and write: David LaGrand. Mayor of Grand Rapids · (616) 456-3168. mayor@grcity.us

This is UNACCEPTABLE.
What in the Gestapo is going on in Grand Rapids?

Watch this activist get arrested *mid-interview* for speaking out against U.S. action in Venezuela.

I did an awful job of taking care of myself last year, to the point that I seem to have developed a stress-related tic in my left eye.

In case you need to hear it, too: You deserve rest and to take proper care of yourself. You have to put your own oxygen mask on first.
