there’s been an assumption that when Dems take power again they will keep ICE funded at these ridiculous levels forever and they are now on record voting to end that

they’ll need to go much further than that but it’s a start - and I sure don’t see the politics of ICE improving between now and then
👀 Every Senate Democrat + Collins and Murkowski just voted for the Bernie Sanders amendment to repeal the $75 billion in additional ICE funding under Trump’s “big beautiful bill.” The measure failed 49-51.

Isn't something like 40% of Microsoft's revenue supposed to come from openai? How's that gonna happen if nvidia is pulling out?

CALL YOUR REPUBLICAN SENATORS AND REPRESENTATIVES WHEN THE FUNDING BILLS COME UP!

Tell them to vote against. When they get an overwhelming number of phone calls, they just might.
THEY DID IT. EVERY SENATE DEMOCRAT just voted on an amendment to DEFUND ICE (rescind the BBB slush fund that keeps ICE open during a shutdown.) This amendment failed, but it shows broad support! KEEP CALLING and make it a demand to vote for the DHS funding bill!!

I voted No because I wanted to send a clear message to the Republicans that addressing the lawlessness we see in Minnesota and around the country is urgent, and we should be working through the weekend and not let up until we have safeguards for the American people. 1/3

If I may have the temerity to paraphrase Frederick Douglass, I will unite with anybody to fuck ICE and with nobody to do MAGA shit.
Again Will is a left wing civil rights lawyer whose worst sin is stubbornness and whose greatest virtue is also stubbornness. That he has been transformed into a demon in the minds of losers is evidence of how pathetically inadequate their vision of actual wickedness is.
the image of will stancil these people have built in their heads (grand wizard of the mega klan) is at odds with any time I've seen him post (dweeby, harmless)

Very important vote. It makes repealing ICE surge funding the mainstream position in the party, with bipartisan support.

It’s Goblin Week and I’m not going to have time to draw anything new, but here’s last year’s goblin, with a brood of goblings on their back. ”Dwarves” and “goblins” are the same subterranean people, it turns out, the only difference being whether you’re happy to see them or not.

I think about this post at least once a week
the speed at which these guys have broken everything has given a lot of folks who should know better the impression that they are an unstoppable force and the only option is to negotiate the terms of surrender

just because the clown car goes very fast does not mean it isn’t full of clowns
Whatever the immediate fallout of the scandal, what is going to stick around is the impression it gives, of hapless idiots doing ridiculous things. And I think that seriously reduces the appeal of capitulating to these jokers.

a common belief I've seen on here is "well the dems just gave them extra money for the body cams/training/whatever so it isn't a budget drain," and I am once again asking people to read what HR 7147 said
This is all true, but also: Every dollar ICE spends on body cams is a dollar not spent brutalizing people in American cities.
Listen, you can think it won’t work, there’s plenty of reasons why I won’t begrudge anybody who holds that view, but it isn’t “bad.”

We need to start somewhere and the goal here is to find a way to ratchet accountability onto these guys.

Plenty of things probably matter more than this, sure.

No vote tonight on the funding deal because — and I am not making this up — Lindsey Graham was insisting on undoing this so he can personally enrich himself to the tune of millions in taxpayer dollars
Unanimous vote in the House to repeal provision letting Senators sue the US over the Jan 6 probe and get millions of dollars

Genuinely endearing how much the two chambers hate each other. A true Legolas/Gimli meme for House members against their true enemy, the Senate

I think we're reaching the burnout stage for a lot of people on here. This is different from the crashout stage, which is characterized by blind panic. The burnout stage is when accounts just start posting cranky mockery in response to Democrats doing literally anything, like kids in need of a nap.

I’m turning this into a consecutive 🧵 to make it easier to show people who are being bamboozled by the current ICE funding being debated:

The current funding is a pitiful drop in the $183 mil per month ICE *already* is guaranteed through 2029. Republicans are banking on you not knowing that.

🧵:
This is not accurate. The ICE funding is ALREADY paid out from the Big Ugly Bill that NO DEMOCRATS VOTED FOR through 2029–ICE gets 183 *million* per month already regardless of any new bills currently in Congress & this was entirely on the Republicans.

The current bill is so GOP can make you mad.
