Last night, an anonymous account appeared on Polymarket, which bet $32,000 that the US would overthrow Maduro by the end of January. This morning, the bet earned its owner more than $400,000 (about 32 million rubles).

Go figure..

"We urge all parties to support dialogue and diplomacy"? What kind of nonsense statement is this? The US just bombed them with no cause, kidnapped their president and his wife, and declared that they would be running the country in order to secure its oil for themselves.

Disgusted by mealymouthed @albomp.bsky.social's "we urge all parties to support dialogue and diplomacy" response to Trump's unprovoked aggression and criminal kidnapping of Venezuela's president. But then he has overlooked extrajudicial killings and oil tanker piracy so what did I expect?

Pathetic!

It seems like the extent of strategic planning was the demented one saying “just go and get him and everything will work out”.
No troops on the ground, a non-compliant regime, an angry populace, a live hostage situation, a divided nation, a corrupt US leadership in fantasyland. It’s a nightmare.

“Our standing” ?

The US government has been invading sovereign nations, committing war crimes, propping up murderous dictators, torturing people, mocking human rights and ousting democratically elected leaders for decades, under both Democratic and Republican administrations

We have no “standing”
Trump has burned our standing to ash. After this, we cannot condemn Putin in Ukraine or block China from Taiwan. Power without law is rot. The light we claimed for democracy is shattered. This was the straw that broke us. We have entered the darkest reflection of ourselves. #TrumpRegime

And when the system of checks & balances fails, the last line of defence is the people. Things will keep getting worse until there is large scale disruptive direct action and civil disobedience that doesn't stop until all the criminals in power are out.
All 3 branches of gov corrupt:
- Exec: war crimes, fails constitutional oath
- Judicial: bribes from billionaires, fails Alexander Hamilton test
- Legislative: bribes from billionaires/foreign entities, war crimes, fails constitutional oath

Looks more like a criminal enterprise than a government.
If it was not clear before, it is undeniable now: the President, Congress, and Supreme Court no longer support and defend the Constitution.

Fighting fossil fuel reliance is directly taking the fight to the US. The rest of the world should see it as an imperative for its immediate survival from a belligerent rogue state as well as from climate collapse.
Venezuela has the world’s largest oil reserves — and that’s no coincidence.

This is naked U.S. imperialism: an illegal assault on Caracas aimed at overthrowing a sovereign government and plundering its resources.

Starmer’s Labour government must condemn this unequivocally.

It’s at least refreshing that they don’t bother to bullshit us about freedom and justice any more. Yes, we are getting rid of the Palestinians so we can build hotels on their land. Yes, we are collapsing this government so our companies can loot their resources. This is what it always was, mask off.
The Venezuelan government has been saying for decades it’s the victim of American aggression and sabotage because the US wants to steal its natural resources, so it’s clarifying that the US is now bombing the country while the President and senior officials say they are going to steal it’s resources
