Well I'm glad it's being made explicit that that Esther Ghey views her daughter being killed in a hate crime on the same level as her daughter retreating into social media to find other trans and queer friends to cope with a transphobic offline climate.

I just want to point out that’s Doug Wilson speaking at the Pentagon. Doug Wilson wants: the 19th amendment repealed, non-Christian religions outlawed, the death penalty for homosexuality, women barred from working or holding office, blasphemy laws, and one party theocratic rule.

okay you know what we're doing this

why rise of skywalker is the worst crime ever committed against cinema and the very concept of a coherent fictional universe: a thread
it is not interested in plot, it is not interested in worldbuilding, it is not interested in anything except throwing random disconnected snapshots of nostalgia at you

rise of skywalker kicks over the sandbox and leaves you uninterested in star wars in a way the prequels never did
I feel comfortable saying Rise of Skywalker was the worst Star Wars because it is the only one I genuinely do not remember enough of it to offer a coherent explanation of the plot. I think a knife and Poe’s ex-wife were somehow involved.

and this is the key to rise of skywalker's crimes - it's not even trying to tell a story, it's not even trying to work within a coherent fictional universe

the more you try to make it work the worse it gets

it's not a good story told poorly, like the prequels - it's not really a story at all

The other thing I'll say about this is that it's word for word what all of the comedians who did shows in Saudi Arabia said, it's this thing where you stand American racism on it's head and go see look these non-American people aren't Oriental Savages they're normal

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

How tf is it a hermit kingdom people from there can talk to us. They do so on a daily basis

the problem with giving in on things that don't poll well is that as soon as the right wins on the the things that don't poll well, they move on and start lying about more popular things to manipulate public opinion, starting the cycle again.
Kevin Roberts, President of The Heritage Foundation, claims that evidence suggests a correlation between undergoing Trans Medical Care and acts of violence.

He states Heritage's public policy solution is to ban it for all ages and they're willing to work towards this goal on an incremental basis.

When I lived in the old house we had a body wash up on the beach and a family out there does not know what happened. One world, no borders. Fortress Europe kills and kills and kills.
The rough seas of the past few days have been washing up bodies onto beaches in Sicily and Calabria, just a small number of the more than a thousand people who drowned attempting to cross the Mediterranean three weeks ago during Storm Harry.

everyday racism is crude, vulgar, and ugly. The _baroque_ racism indulged in by everyone from groypers to jet-setters is something you need to wash your eyes out after reading
one reset I'd personally appreciate: behind the insistence that we must offer the electorate a little bigotry is the idea that commoners are more bigoted than the richer and more educated, who can be appealed to with high minded policy. but then you Ctrl+F "phrenology" in the Epstein files
What strikes me is that 'the volk' have incredibly incoherent and everywhere ideas, but the people who claim to speak for them in the press are like clerics who think there are two poles for all politics and everything must fit between them. These poles are like, eight inches apart

It's probably important to disambiguate these now. This algorithm is classic ML, not modern LLMs/GANs/Diffusion etc.

And as such, the "the purpose of the algorithm is what it does" guidance is sorta spot on. Humans made decisions about where to set the thresholds, not some stochastic process.

I personally find the consistent approach by bigots to call every living transgender person an “activist” to be fucking disgusting.
And naturally, he falsely refers to me as a "transgender activist." I am not an activist. There's nothing wrong with activists. But I am not one. Meanwhile, he, a guy who has made his entire career about trying to stoke a moral panic about trans people, juat gets to be considered a journalist.

Adding to this, right wing culture deteriorated when grifting and grievances became profitable. Why actually make art when you can make more money tearing down the art of others and complaining about everything being woke? No surprise it's made up of failed artists like Ben Shapiro and Steve Bannon
The decline of right wing cultural production is just due to the fact that they don’t like culture, they like the signifiers of culture, ie “classic sculpture means white people are better.” They don’t like art at all except for this purpose. They don’t even like the nerd stuff they whine about

In undergrad we had to take 2 semesters of Western Civilization, where we read major works in the area.

The bros hated it bc they had to read entire books. And bc in class the left-leaning students were better at critical reading and discussion, so they argued circles around the bros.

If you showed someone from Athens or Rome a society where women were not the legal property of their husbands/fathers, they would despair at the seeming overthrow of their moral universe (much as contemporary Rome-obsessed reactionaries already do)
Whenever someone does the From Athens To Rome To America thing what goes through my brain is that if you showed someone from Athens or Rome an entire society where everyone has to sell their labor to someone else to survive they would assume the apocalypse happened
