I’ll say this much: I think that FFIX remake has a better shot of being revealed tomorrow than FFVII Part 3. You’re kidding yourself if you think that’s being revealed before Rebirth hits Switch 2 and Xbox.

Stop calling it the fucking War Department. It’s the Defense Department. It’s *legally* the Department of Defense. Not War. Hegseth calls it the War Department because he’s a fucking child who thinks it sounds cooler.

MS NOW: "A congressional official with knowledge of the matter is telling MS NOW the cause of the shutdown of El Paso airspace is a lack of communication between the Pentagon and FAA. The official told us the FAA and DOD are 'not in clear communications with each other.'"

Ah
Half an hour ago, Fox News hosted an "aviation expert" who argued such a closure wouldn't happen "unless we are at war" facing a "major security threat," and that it signaled the government "might have discovered the next potential Pearl Harbor."

We are governed by the dumbest fucking people on Earth. And you know what? Every time I have that realization, it’s impossible not to follow it up with “because we have the dumbest fucking voters on Earth.”

EL PASO, Texas (AP) — FAA says it has lifted temporary closure of airspace over El Paso, Texas, and all flights to resume.

Twenty one years across military and government service and I’ve never, ever once seen this level of incompetence, unseriousness and stupidity. We’re truly in an amazing era.
The FAA has now abruptly reversed course and says the air space closure over El Paso has been lifted.

This can be read as the Pentagon refusing to deconflict airspace, so the FAA arguably is doing the right thing, though others who are more expert on this should weigh in. cc @faineg.bsky.social

Correct
If they shut down a major US city’s airspace for TEN DAYS to deal with some COTS drones carrying bags of drugs, it’s going to be one of the dumbest fucking own-goals imaginable. Which, ironically, makes this completely plausible.

“Airline sources told Reuters the grounding of flights was believed to be tied to the Pentagon's use of counterdrone technology to address Mexican drug cartels' use of drones of the U.S.-Mexico border.”

(Still odd, if true.)

If that’s the actual reason, this would be such a massive fucking overreaction

I’ll say this much: if there WAS a significant, credible threat to NatSec, I find it next to impossible a WARNO didn’t go out to US military personnel. Like that would be so fucking weird I can’t fathom it. And yet they got nothing.

So yeah. I dunno.
Re: El Paso, in order to do something like this (in a normal world) the intelligence community needs a significant, credible threat to National Security and personnel. Is there one? I dunno. I’m not in the IC anymore. But under this administration who fucking knows what’s going on.

Sounds like the military also had no warning about El Paso’s airspace. That’s….unusual. Also probably rules out a strike on Mexican territory.

Makes me wonder if we’re about to bomb Mexico
