Imagine the one real pop you get in an election is calling your opponents evil weirdos and instead of going all-in on that strategy you do the exact opposite and paint them as the normal ones. It wouldn't make sense! You would have to be an evil weirdo, too!

Let's be very clear that one of the major effects of the CDC no longer recommending various vaccinations is that it becomes much harder for folks who still want to be—or want their children to be—vaccinated to get their insurance providers to cover those vaccinations.

It’s just open white supremacy at this point.
Fox News' Will Cain: "I’m sure there are very honorable law-abiding upstanding citizens and contributors from the Somali community here in the United States, BUT..."

He goes on to say "we aren’t going to pretend here that all cultures are of equal value or the same."

These are good moments to remember that the CEOs of all the biggest companies in America are happy to go to White House dinners and slap this guy’s back. They do not care about this. Remember this, years from now, when they want you to forget.
Trump: "It’s a hellhole right now. And those Somalians should be out of here. They've destroyed our country. And all they do is complain, complain, complain. You have her. She’s always talking about the Constitution provides me with – go back to your own country and figure out your constitution."

Read these words. This is your country doing this:

“Pregnant & postpartum women report starving in ICE custody, freezing cells, invasive procedures, miscarriages, their pleas for help going unanswered.”

Thank you @rfkhumanrights.bsky.social @the-independent.com for shining a light on these horrors
(1/4) ICE detention has become a black box. Oversight has been gutted. Families are being separated. Pregnant and postpartum women report starving in custody, freezing cells, invasive procedures, miscarriages, and their pleas for help going unanswered.
Miscarriages, infections, neglect: The pregnant women detained by ICE
Until last year, Congress required reports on the pregnant, postpartum or nursing women in ICE custody, including ‘detailed justification’ for their detention. This requirement no longer exists, Kelly...

we don’t need to have this conversation. a student getting a failing grade on an assignment because she failed to follow the instructions is not national news. college instructors shouldn’t be second-guessing this student’s actual instructor, who assigned and graded the work.

the things i want to say violate the terms of service here.
These are screenshots from an actual DHS press release that just went out offering "self-deportation" as a "gift" to "illegal aliens" this holiday season.

This administration is truly repugnant.

Imagine if they just subsidized newspapers and magazines the way they’re subsidizing this slop
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

Cancer drug Revlimid is one of the bestselling pharmaceutical products of all time, with total sales of over $100 billion.

It’s also extraordinarily expensive, costing nearly $1,000 for each pill, even though that pill costs just 25 cents to make.

The Price of Remission: This Cancer Drug Saves Lives — but Costs a Fortune. I Wanted to Know Why.
When I was diagnosed with cancer, I set out to understand why a single pill of Revlimid cost the same as a new iPhone. I’ve covered high drug prices as a reporter for years. What I discovered shocked ...

I need everybody to read this and understand what’s going on. These are spouses of US citizens in the country legally. They have entry clearance and green cards, they’ve passed background checks and have no criminal records. ICE is taking them anyway.

Chat, is it a good sign when the Atlantic's Thanksgiving take is "cabbage is affordable"?
Cabbage is affordable, delicious, and astoundingly versatile, @giladedelman.bsky.social writes. The underrated crucifer “is fit for a king”:

well, I read it, and the salient, non-gross part is Lizza alleging, midsentence and without elaboration, that Nuzzi ran numerous “catch-and-kill operations” on RFK’s behalf, which would give her a role in both his appointment and the untold preventable deaths he has abetted in office. Cool.

Idk man, considering the number of times I’ve had to sleep on an airport floor, I think pajamas are the practical wardrobe choice at this point.

"Sometimes you just have to ask people, Hey, let's go back to an era where we didn't wear our pajamas to the airport. We actually might dress up a little bit"
